Do you think when God cleanses the Sanctuary He is correcting our thinking?

In other words, in 1844 there was a movement to bring people back to keeping the commandments of God, including the fourth commandment.

Do you think this is the result of the cleansing of the Sanctuary in 1844?

When God cleanses His Sancturay (us) He does so by washing us with His word (truth) to sanctify us.

Ephesians 5:26-27 That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

Washing and cleansing has to do with pure water. Water has to do with words and words have to do with thought. In other words, He corrects our thinking.

John 17:17 "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

In or around 1844 the Adventist church was being formed. As a result, the sancturay (God's people) would be cleansed through it (thinking corrected).

What are your thoughts?

Hi,

When the eye of faith looks within the Holy Place, it presents 3 pieces of furniture. The Table of Shewbread represents the Word of God. The Altar of Incense represents the prayer of the saints and the 7 branched Candlesticks represent witnessing/evangelism. I don't have the time or space to go into any details. But all three furniture represent the process of sanctification. It's not by partaking the Bread (Word) alone.

In Revelation 11, John saw the temple in heaven opened, the Ark of Covenant was seen with thunders, lightnings... It's true this means the law of God was magnified since 1844.

We know the law of God is a transcript of Christ's character. It is the standard of judgment that began in 1844. This tells the perspective believers that Righteousness-by-Faith is the essence of the Three Angels message preached by the remnant movement. It's only by faith and through the empowering spirit that the professed believers can acquire the character (righteousness) of Christ before entering into the Most Holy Place to meet God in judgment.

Amos 4:12 ...prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

How does this verse fit in with the heavenly Sanctuary?

Revelation 21:22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

How is it that there could be sin in heaven that needs to cleansed?

How does this verse fit in with the heavenly Sanctuary?

Revelation 21:22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

When sin separated man from God, man became foreign to the character and precepts of God. God instituted the sacrificial system and then later furnished with earthly sanctuary and its services to teach man of character of God and the plan of salvation. After the earth is made new, sin and sinners forever eradicated from the universe, the redeemed and God will dwell together face to face. The temple will no longer be needed.

How is it that there could be sin in heaven that needs to cleansed?

Ezekiel 23:38 Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths...

Leviticus 20
2 Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.
3 And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name.

The sins of God's professed people defile the sanctuary. After the sins are confessed, animal sacrificed, the blood is carried into the holy place, sprinkled and stained every object in the sanctuary. This represents the sins are recorded in the heavenly sanctuary.

The Hebrew word cleanse means to atone for, to make right, to restore the original condition...

The sins are not merely forgiven and forgotten. It's recorded. So on the day of atonement, Satan the originator and partaker of all sins will bear all the confessed sins of the believers. After this, the sanctuary is cleanse, atoned for.

How did the sins of Israelites defile the earthly sanctuary? They didn't actually desecrate the temple directly.

Leviticus 16 tells us once a year atonement was made for the sanctuary...the high priest sprinkled blood on every piece of furniture, including the mercy seat upon which the Shekinah glory dwelled. How was the mercy seat defiled that it needed to be atoned for? Vs 16 tells us because of their sins, transgressions and their uncleanness.

The wages of sin is death. When the sins were confessed to the sacrificial animal, they were transferred from the penitent to the animal. The animal was sacrificed and the blood carried into the holy places and stained the veil and every piece of furniture. The sins were in figure transferred to the sanctuary. That's how the sanctuary was defiled by sins.

The earthly sanctuary was but a scaled down replica of the heavenly sanctuary which the Lord pitched. By the same way, the heavenly sanctuary is defiled by sins of the professed believers.

There is no scripture that states the heavenly sanctuary is defiled by sins. Our understanding is achieved through typology: the types and shadows of the Old Testament sanctuary and its services.

There is a passage of Scripture which deals with the defilement of the heavenly sanctuary:

"For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. [It was] therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these." Hebrews 9:19-23

Paul states it is necessary for the vessels of the ministry in the heavenly sanctuary to be purified by the blood of Christ.

The only thing that necessitates purification, is defilement. How could the heavenly vessels become defiled? As OntheDL said: by the type (Leviticus 16), we understand it is by the sins of God's people.
