Looking for a really good daily use EVOO for consumption...would like to be able to order it in 3L tin if possible. I have used Philippo Berio EVOO as it is the only brand my grocer carries in 3L.

I suppose that I just need a good primer on EVOO with some sites where purchase can be made over the internet....

Help... :)

We get ours via Luggage express. Ie. when somebody visits Cyprus, they bring back unmarked bottles full of Extra Virgin Olive Oil from the village, hidden in their luggage.

It's Good Stuff.

You need to find somebody running the Luggage Express ;)

When it runs out, honestly we just buy a big bottle of whatever Extra Virgin Olive Oil they sell at Costco. We use a lot if it.

That is hilarious! It is just opposite for us....we bootleg jars of Duke's Mayonnaise over to my sister who lives in Switzerland! :)

LOL @ Greg.

Then there's my family - Andrew's parents were amazed to find out that my Cornish great grandparents had planted two massive rows of olives as a hedge, 100 years ago or something, and they're the kind you make really good olive oil out of. So next year guess where ours is coming from? :) My dad always thought the olives were small because we didn't water the hedges, lol. We have 3/4 of an acre (the remnants of the old farm) and there's a lot of random stuff (like old olive hedges) around that we don't think about too much.

Apparently we cook more mediterranean food here Down Under, I can find good quality olive oil at any supermarket :)

I hope you find a job soon. I am waiting to see if I will be hired this September, but the state budget crunch may eliminate my job.

I will probably work as a substitute teacher.
Well, I'll be in school for another two quarters.

I'll keep you in my prayers.

Thanks.

Sorry, I went off topic.

A year or two ago, there was an announcement that much of the Italian 100% pure Virgin Olive Oil was not as specified, but was actually a mix of Turkish hazel nut oil which has a tendency to go rancid. Studies have shown that rancid oil does contribute to breast cancer, etc.

Anyway, from what I read a year ago, (and links were posted somewhere here at TAW), there is no self-policing of the olive oil industry. So even the very expensive olive oil may not be what is claimed on the label, and it may have up to 25% rancid Turkish hazel nut oil.

Any updates?
