While I too strongly subscride to the consensus view that birds (avians) are decended from dinosaurs (dinosauria), I think its rather important to clarify that just because one may, with an element of poetic license, describe birds as dinosaurs, to artificially conflate the two is wrong.

Another way... yes, in a certain regard, all birds are dinosaurs... but not all dinosaurs are birds. And I certainly don't think that modern birds are what is being IMPLIED when creationists discuss dinosaurs. Of course, the way the imply then deny game works is that the creationists will make claims about native Americans hunting dinosaurs, then when confronted, claim that they mean turkeys and they never mentioned apatosaurus, but by that stage you've been drawn in by the whole clabby arguement.

(Yes, thats precisely the word I meant to use. The Meaning of Liff )

By the same token, would that justify someone being called a 'liar'?

If someone says Native Americans hunted dinosaurs, would you call them a liar?

That's seems to be a very deliberately misleading question.

As, I've come to find, you ask a lot of.

I'd ask them what type of dinosaur they were referring to.

If they said "Birds.", then I wouldn't say they were a liar.

If they said "Sauropods.", then it'd depend whether or not they actually believed it themselves.

If they believed that yes, Native Americans hunted sauropods, then no, they wouldn't be lying, they'd just be wrong.

If they didn't believe it themselves, then they'd be liars, and still be wrong.

Hovind states that Native Americans hunted the real big multi-ton variety of dinosaur, not the kind that had feathers and flew AV. Quit being so insincere. Hovind is a liar.

Perhaps you'd like to address Hovind's claim that eating the seed from a peach pit prevents/cures cancer?

Depending on context, I think I would quite possibly call them intentionally misleading.

Dinosaur is a powerful word... say dinosaur to someone and there is a 99% chance the thing they immediately think of is large and scaly. If someone were to say "birds evolved from dinosaurs, and native Americans hunted dinosaurs" then, yeah, i guess thats OK. To just come out and say "Native Americans hunted dinosaurs" and then, when challenged, say "hey, birds are dinosaurs" seems to me inherently misleading.

Especially since, you know, to buy into the view that birds evolved from dinosaurs rather does seem to require one to acknowledge macro evolution as a fact... or would you like to claim that all bird hipped dinosaurs and avians are in fact one "kind"?

Well, did they?
Quit being so insincere.
Do people hunt UFOs?
Hovind is a liar.
He is?

Not really, but if I HAD to, I would simply ask, "does it"?

What if I said that Native Americans looked for the Spirit in the Sky?

Would you call me a liar?

What if I said I, personally, looked for Santa Claus?

Would you call me a liar?

What if I said Native Americans looked for T. Rex?

Would you call me a liar?

"Disingenuous" is the word I'd use.

It doesn't matter.

My claim is that it is dated 31 Dec 1969.

(Yes, there is one.)

If there is one, then no.

However, if another person is speaking about dated threads in a different context you can't use your example to make claims on that.
