In the apparition of Fatima on July 13, 1917, Mary said, “You saw hell where the souls of poor sinners go; to save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If you do what I say, many souls will be saved and you will have peace…There will be wars, hunger, persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. To impede this I come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart and Eucharistic reparation on First Saturdays. If my desires are heeded, Russia will be converted and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors through all the world, promoting persecutions against the Church. The good will be martyred and the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated …Suddenly the horizon will darken... Later, a brilliant ray of light and hope will arise…In the end My Immaculate Heart will triumph.”

I've always wondered what the Orthodox Church view on Fatima is. And how to Protestants view appearances such as this?

I was listening to a program on this yesterday on the local Catholic station, and the eye witness accounts and the "prophecies" didn't sound at all like something genuinely from God. I don't mean to offend my Catholic brothers and sisters, as I know your church has "confirmed" this as a genuine apparition to be believed in - and I don't doubt that it actually happened - but to me it seems like something from the Deceiver.

Non-Catholics often disparage apparitions that confirm or underscore Catholicism for precisely that reason. If they accept the validity and holiness of the apparition, they are accepting the validation of a rival faith.

In actuality Jesus told us how we should judge such apparitions, since He was accused of being of the deceiver Himself.

In response Jesus said this:

Mark3 25-26 "If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come."

In all the approved Marian appearances mary calls for prayer and repentance, and for people to follow Jesus. As Jesus teaches, Satan cannot do this.

Jesus made another comment on this same subject:

Matthew 7:15-20
15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? 17 So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. 18 A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will know them by their fruits.

In other words, judge an apparition by its fruit. If the fruit of the apparition is increased prayer, holiness, healings and renewed Faith in God then, we can assume that the tree that bears it is good.

Well written post Axion.

At Fatima and other appriations, the blessed Mother calls for prayer, repentance, and for a greater devotion to God. She echoes what she said before

John 2:5 His mother saith to the waiters: Whatsoever he shall say to you, do ye.

Researching this and other approved appariations throughly from a wide variety of sources, pro and con, has brought me to accept the appraitions fully.
The good fruit that comes from them confirm them also.

Our Lady of Fátima (pronounced [ˈfatimɐ]) is the title given to the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to three shepherd children at Fátima, Portugal on the 13th day of six consecutive months in 1917, starting on 13 May. The three children were Lúcia Santos and her cousins, siblings Jacinta and Francisco Marto. The title of Our Lady of the Rosary is also sometimes used in reference to the same apparition (although it was first used in 1208 for the reported apparition in the church of Prouille), because the children related that the apparition specifically identified herself as "the Lady of the Rosary." It is also common to see a combination of these titles, i.e., Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima (Portuguese: ''Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Fátima'').

This is a different gospel and is ABSOLUTELY the work of the deceiver.
It straight up in the face contradicts
GOD'S commands, i wonder how people can be so foolish but then remember the adversary is the MOST successful deceiver.

Hasn't God used Aparations of Angels throughout the bible? Are they also the works of the deceiver? God can't send Mary as an Angel? What was part of her message goes against God? For if it was the work of the deceiver wouldn't another message to go against him be more appropriate?

Now personally I don't know whether or not I believe in occcurance of the Lady of Fatima but I certainly wouldn't rule out God still using Angels to come to people still to this day nor would I rule out God sending Mary.

If it were truly Mary she would have said and "My sons immaculate heart will triumph"

Mary was a righteous woman but without her son she is just as deserving of death as anyone else, she would never focus on herself like that...

I'm very skeptical of this stuff and I also think it could be the deceiver

How does that compare?

by being the Savior he will be saving many souls.

But I don't know, I'm not going to debate this since I'm not sure if I myself believe it. Oh well.
I just don't automatically dismiss God still using Angels to come to people.

GOD DOESN'T NEED MIRACLES TO PROVE HE'S GOD OR TO SOLIDFY YOUR FAITH.......HIS WORD AND THE HOLY SPIRIT IS SUFFICIENT.

CAREFUL !!!
2Thes 2:7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

And yet Jesus and the Apostles and other Christians perform miracles. It's in the scriptures.

I can quote scriptures were it says that He will send visions and people will prophecy ect .. ect...

Can you show me in scripture where an apparition of the Mother Mary was used as a sign?

Revelations 12
1And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
2And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
3And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
4And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
5And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
6And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
7And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
12Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
13And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
14And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
15And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
16And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
17And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
