What do you think the underlying message of this image is?

Something is very strange about this...

What do the people really see in Obama?

Some have even referred to him as the messiah. Does this image not paint that picture?

Maybe the "Catholic" messiah Woob! Halo's (sun wheels?) are typical in Catholic imagery.

UPDATE

It has been changed yet again, to this:

130,http _d.yimg.com_a_p_ap_20090223_capt.db3fd0fc9ece4e91953ccbea0827ad11.obama__dcpm103.jpg

Is the photographer just testing different images to see what draws the best response or is there something else here that even the photographer might not see concerning his subconscious perception of Obama?

Whatever the case me be, I still find it to be interesting however, as the first image does engender a subliminal affect on the psyche, which gives the impression of piety.

Of course, they also appear to be following a theme, as Obama is depicted as pure and thoughtful/prayerful (1st image) and then annoyed or troubled about something (2nd image) and then focused and instructive (3rd image). There is no doubt however, that the first image is reflective of how saints are depicted in images within the Catholic church.

It's a Democrat Jedi mind trick. It's simply a reversed POW MIA icon and instead of the guard tower in the background it's the Seal. Like Obama was held captive by the US Govt as he looks downward. Later on- he overcomes the beast power and takes it over.

This thread wasn't meant to turn out like this! It was meant to provoke thought and mature discussion.

The idea was to show that the images that people paint of others often reflect their personal beliefs or what has been planted in their subconscious as a result of the environment that they have been exposed to.

I don't see the images that I posted as representing personal attacks on Obama. But the ones that were posted thereafter, except for a few, are merely personal attacks. Not necessarily by those who posted them; although, the one posted by pythons of Ellen White is obviously a personal attack on us, as it was clearly posted out of spite. And for that you should be ashamed pythons!

With that being said, it is obvious that a mature discussion isn't possible here.

Therefore, mods, please close this thread before it gets worse!

That's exactly what I provided to the discussion wooba. RND's hatred of the Catholic Church enables him to justify posting anything (to include Clinton's head on the body of Christ).

My point remains, the Obama Icon is mere the MIA POW with Obama facing the other direction ( like the US held him captive ) but now he's broken free...

Given that the last image is the universally recognized image of the body of Christ "with Clinton's head attached to it", that's blasphemy.

Pythons, that is simply untrue. The image with Clinton's head attached in not the "universally recognized image of the body of Christ" because I don't recognize pagan imagery as being Christian. You may, but I don't.

I've never reported anyone on craigslist and don't intend to start now.

That's great!

Those images are from sites that are not religious that make fun of political figures using religious Icons.

Right. "Catholic" religious icons. I have no imagery of religious icons that I'm in love with.

Certainly if my post showing that the hawkers of the Walter Veith DVD's reject the Trinity is removed then it stands to reason that religious Icons that have been doctored shouldn't be posted..

I could see you point if these images were posted on the Catholic board. The intent to inflame would be obvious. The reason these images were posted was not to inflame any Catholics in the catholic board but to simply show the similarities between what Woob posted originally posted with what has been previously done.

The point is that all these images use "Catholic" iconography to stress who they consider a "saint."

This is what you are doing,

Pythons, you posting a doctored picture of EGW was meant to inflame the Adventist here on the Adventist board. Posted on the Catholic board I doubt you get much of a boo-who about it. Posting it here on the Adventist board is inflammatory.

Since you know that the nature of the posts on the Adventist board can at times run into discussions regarding the Roman Catholic religion it is you and not the Adventist that need to be flexible and understanding of the nature that this thread can take.

It would be rude, insensitive and a violation of the TOS and the FSG's if I went to the Catholic board or even general board and posted these pictures in the vain that I did. I could be rightly cited. However, these were posted on a board that is specific in the forum and CF leaves this alone to some extent.

Posting this doctored photo of EGW with the intent to inflame the members of this board is a direct violation of the rules of this forum. I can't speak for everyone here when I say this because I haven't done a poll but I love having you here and love having your input and discussion but if you don't like what I say or post you do have an option......you can simply leave! Outta site, outta mine. But frankly, I don't what to see this.

It's as simple as this. If you don't like the temperature of the swimming pool here then you can go swimming somewhere else.

Who says I hate the Catholic church? The images posted were to simply show the similarity to 1) other Catholic imagery and 2) to show that it is not exclusive to one party or the other.

My point remains, the Obama Icon is mere the MIA POW with Obama facing the other direction ( like the US held him captive ) but now he's broken free...

Your point is duly noted Pythons. I see the imagery of Obama (especially the one with the sun wheel) as I do the one of Bush, a take-off on Catholic iconography.

There was no attempt to inflame, just compare.

I've heard the name RND. Does he have a website you can direct me to? I am sorry that my posting of Ellen White within an iconographic context bothered you. Remove the "clinton-christ" and I'll remove Ellen. Fair enough? That one pic is the only one that got my dander up so I could care less if the rest of the pics stay.

It's the same website you got the doctored EGW photo.

I am sorry that my posting of Ellen White within an iconographic context bothered you.

The picture didn't bother me Pythons the obvious spite in which it was posted did.

Remove the "clinton-christ" and I'll remove Ellen. Fair enough?

No can do Brother for this simple reason. This isn't the Catholic board. It wasn't posted to offend you it was posted to draw a comparision regarding the topic at hand. The fact that you are bothered by a photo of Bill Clinton supposedly taken the place of the "Blessed Mother" is your hang up, not mine. It also demonstrates how hollow and shallow Catholicism really is.

That one pic is the only one that got my dander up so I could care less if the rest of the pics stay.

So? You aren't on a the Catholic forum Pythons you are on the Adventist forum. When I saw that picture of Clinton I wasn't offended nor did I think it would offend any of the Adventist here because none of them are into iconography.

The fact you are offended by what was posted on an Adventist web site is on you, not me. This might explain why I never venture into the main forum or Catholic thread and post things I know would be patently offensive to Catholics or other groups easily offended.

Pythons admit you posted your picture of EGW in order to inflame (your comments say as much) and remove the picture and I'll stop my complain against you. Otherwise you have to pay the price on your own. It's up to you.

I can certify that I didn't get the picture I posted off the same website you got your pics.

Wasn't spite, I merely showed you what you showed me, difference being I associated a religious person with religious Iconography whereas you associated various non-religious political figures with religious Iconography.

I would say a Seventh-day Adventist depiction of Christ would be universal in that any one, of any faith would know it's Christ. I've already told you this. The pic may have got my dander up but I'm hardly "offended" RND (I'm not fake that way). Who is going to argue that many people view Obama as a type of Christ. Not me.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is on the Icon of Jesus RND. You know that.

So? You got you pic from a Catholic apologetic's web site. I got mine from various blogs and news sources.

Nice try Pythons! If I didn't know you by now and what you are capable of that might be a good excuse. But you routinely use "spite" in your postings as witnessed by the post's you have made here that have been corrected.

But the main difference is your post was in direct violation of the FSG's of this forum. The religious iconography I used was in order to make a point brought up in the OP, yours was to inflame and incite.

Pythons you completely missed the comparison that I was making.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is on the Icon of Jesus RND. You know that.
:D You are kidding right? Catholics routinely use this imagery for Mary as well! Good night Pythons, must I report you to the Vatican?

What?

You might want to wait unti I can get your starbucks gift card in the US Mail before the Vatican bends my i.d. card and takes away my desert license. By the way you need to pm me your snail mail addy because I will actually send you a SB card. I get them all the time as perks for work but never use em. I drink my mud straight w/out "adulterating" it with milk, cream or sugar.
