I went to a funeral not long ago.The minister that did the eulogy was commenting on the gifts and callings of the
deceased. He mentioned that she had a prophetic gift and then he said something that has puzzled me ever since the
funeral.
He said that most Christians are not able to go into the spiritual realm, fight and win against what I understood him to mean demonic spirits.
Now I understand praying in the spirit and deliverance prayers ,but he was talking about physically going into the spirit realm and fighting demons.
The minister and the deceased were not occultic I don't think. However I am confused. Anyone had these kinds of exp. and
can help me understand? The bible forbids us to do astral projection. So are their circumstances where a Christian can leave their body legally to war in the spirit realm?
I hope this makes sense. It is difficult for me to wrap my mind around this ,so I hope the post is not too confusing.

I can relate to that because many Christians do teach false doctrines and philosophy.

No Christian goes into astral travel to fight demons. It's all done through Spiritual Warfare through "earthly and heavenly things" of the supernatural realm.

I've had manifestations of demonic beings in my presence in Christians, and I didn't have to go into the supernatural realm to cast the out.

Your authority is your power through our Lord Jesus Christ.

What he was possibly saying is that many may talk the talk, but don't walk the talk, and that lady walked the talk, and through prayer she was accomplish many things in the Spirit.

...but he was talking about physically going into the spirit realm and fighting demons.
There is a dimension called the paranormal realm. As I understand it, it is located between the physical and supernatural realms. It is where devils operate from and has to do with the mental side of humans. It is often confused with the true supernatural realm by both Christians and Occultists. It is where people are when they have near death experiences and can't seem to go but so far towards the light or end of a tunnel, etc.

I'm assuming this is what the pastor was talking about when he talked about taking the fight to the devil on his own turf. To be honest, I think this is just a different angle of astral projection. It isn't an area that is normal for humans to go to on purpose. "On purpose" is the key phrase and is part of what seperates the occult experiences from ones that God gives us. Any time one of God's people in the Bible experienced this area, it was at the discretion of God. The person had no control over what they saw, how long it lasted, etc. The ability of a person to do things on demand is part of the attraction of the occult.

On the other hand, just because I don't know of any Biblical accounts and haven't heard of any other Christians doing this doesn't mean I'm right. It's just too close to astral projection for my liking.

Hi..there is lots of good stuff in Ephesians about us being seated in the heavenly realms with Him.

I dont think our physical bodies do.Although they can be afflicted by the spiritual realm..kinda tuff to tell the difference sometimes.

Paul was caught up in the third dimension, but I tend to doubt it was his body, yet we know some have been transported..

Cool stuff !:)

Paul himself didn't know.

2 Cor 12:2
"I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth) such an one caught up to the third heaven."

John was in the spirit (Rev 4:2).

Elijah was caught up physically (2 Kings 2:11).

But none of these pertained to someone fighing it out with demonic powers. Each pertains to their method of transport to be with God. So I don't think one can use any of these instances to verify what the preacher said.

I have heard of children visiting heaven and when questioned they describe the place the same but from different angles.
The details were the same just where they were standing was different.

Visions Beyond the Veil? About a revival that happened in an orphanage, back when Heidi Baker was a missionary?

Do Christians physically go in the Spiritual Realm?

I have a friend who probably does stuff like this. We used to be on the church deliverance team together, years ago.

I don't really know what to say about Christians going into the spirit realm to battle demons. What I personally got out of my time in the deliverance ministry was the realization that it is all Him, and none of us. We simply bring people to Jesus, and He delivers them.

What is the purpose then of battling demons in the spirit? IDK. But I imagine if God leads you to do it, then do it! It's not really the same thing as astral projection. Altered states of consciousness occur naturally all the time. When in church and the anointing is "heavy", we often times are in an altered state. Not to confuse the altered state with the actual presence of God... just that they often go hand in hand.

People try to work up a state of mind that the Holy Spirit showed up in the last time around. It doesn't always work. Sometimes we can achieve the same feelings and states of consciousness, but the H.S. acts independently from what we can accomplish on our own. Accomplishing an altered state without the Spirit showing up is rather disappointing, but it does give you a good idea of what people who don't have Him have to settle for for their spiritual "high"!

I pray she was not doing astral projection and made it to heaven.

Somehow I doubt that... those who delve into the occult like that are proving they don't know God.

We don't have to seek such over-the-top experiences to do spiritual warfare. I'm not discounting that some who are gifted in deliverance or intercession have visions that are real--I have witnessed them in others, and have had one myself. But, it is not something to seek after. All we need to be doing as Spirit-filled believers is to obey God and pray as we are told in His Word--and with the authority of Jesus Christ we have been given, tear town strongholds with the mighty sword of God's Word.

Simple!

What do you think happens when you climb into bed at night and go to sleep?
You make the transition from being "in flesh" to being "in spirit" surely?
That thing which does the dreaming at night is your spirit. Some call it the subconscious mind or dream body, nonetheless it's a non-physical thing experiencing the spiritual life within.

Do yourself a favour, walk into the nearest church and look up at those stain-glassed windows depicting the saints defeating Leviathan (Satan) and then tell me that there is no spiritual battle which christians have to face! Christianity is about overcoming Satan's hold on the soul. How is that going to happen if there is a fallen spiritual realm to conquer?

Read "secrets of spiritual warfare" and you will learn of the truth which few christians are able to admit to.

unless it can be found definatively in the bible that we are to do this,I would avoid it,be wary of it and not do it.I have never read in the bible of people going into the spiritual realm to fight demons.Jesus used the Word of God against the devil when He was on the earth. So that looks like the way to do it.We were told by Jesus to cast out demons in His Name.I have never read to do astral projection or such to fight demons. If Jesus were to give us a vision He will choose how to give it,not us.Any vision from Jesus will never contradict the bible.Anyways astral projection would be off limits to me.

Correction: The spirit doesn't dream. The mind does.

I was talking to a friend. He is saved and we all used to attend the same church. We were talking about spiritual warfare. He says he has had many exp. They began when he and his wife saw a ufo years ago. (They were unsaved at the time)
Anyway, as a result they got saved and he has continued to battle demons in his home.
He says he wrestles and has choked demons physically. He also prays against them.
I was outdone when he talked about fighting physically with a demon.Could it be many people are confused about what spiritual warfare should include? We must be very careful because it is easy for well meaning Godly people to get off on the wrong track.Without proper council you can be lured into the occult.Scary...

Mate, it's all scary stuff to some. But, when you are in authority and have submitted to our Lord Jesus Christ, then they will flee.

We encounter them day by day, they are there just a breath away.

Beware of those who boast about physical fighting demons, because warfare is SPIRITUAL, and in authority! Obvious that person had no authority!

“know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men (an women) will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty (proud), lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Tim 3:1-7)

E2 is correct when he says that your friend had no authority. We don't pray against demons...in the authority of Jesus Christ in us, we speak to them and tell them to leave. Throttling a demonic presence is theatrical, and Satan loves it.
