Posted in another thread, even MORE relevant in this one:

everyone, on BOTH sides of the track, need to stop crowing about converts, to and from their chosen denominations, either from Catholic, or to Catholic. All it proves is the inconsitancy of men... It does nothing to prove the credibility of your own denomination... or to destroy the credibility of the one you are pointing the finger at. It's really, really childish.

503 Notable Converts
to Catholicism
Ever since the earliest Christian times, leading individuals from all backgrounds have converted to the Catholic Church. Since the Reformation and the Enlightenment, leading Protestants, Secularists, and Jews have become convinced of the truth of the claims of the Catholic Church to be that Church established by Jesus Christ. Many such Protestants over the years have abandoned their careers and prominence in Protestantism to convert to Catholicism. This is true now more than ever, and a large and growing body of convert literature attests to the strength of this movement. Each year, an estimated 200,000 converts are received into the Catholic Church.
From 1993-2001, 300 Protestant clergy contacted the Coming Home Network, a ministry for Protestant clergy and laity interested in becoming Catholic; two-thirds have already been received into the Church. The revival has not escaped the notice of Evangelical Protestant leaders; Larry Eskridge of the Institute for the Study of American Evangelicals at Wheaton College comments: “I have been concerned about the growing exodus from evangelicalism of some of its brightest and best, for, variously, Canterbury, Rome, or Mt. Athos.” In 1998, more than 88,000 Protestants were received into the Catholic Church, and more than 73,000 adults were baptized, many of them from Protestant backgrounds (catholiceducation.org/articles/religion/re0252.html).
This is empirical evidence that Catholic historian Paul Johnson is right: “at the end of the twentieth century, religion [and specifically Catholic Christianity], far from disappearing, is alive and well and flourishing in the hearts of sophisticated men and women.” While it is certainly true that conversion is a two-way street and that many Catholics leave the Church for various denominations and sects, the quality conversions are almost all in one direction, i.e. out of the denominations and into Catholicism. In other words, while many poorly-informed, Biblically-illiterate, inactive, culturally Catholic people become Episcopalian or Evangelical based on preferences or without serious intellectual consideration, the converts to Catholicism are from among the sincerest, most active, best-informed, most Biblically-literate, and best-read Evangelicals, Episcopalians, etc. Put more simply still, it's easy to find numerous Catholics who were once high-level, well-respected Protestant leaders, but virtually impossible to find any Evangelicals or other Protestants who were once high-level, well-respected Catholics.

unbelievable.

yada yada yada, Catholic Church. Yada Yada convert. Blah Blah Blah hooray Catholics, blah blah blah horrible Protestants. Yammer Yammer Ain't we great.

I hate to point out the blatantly obvious, but how much of your over a billion that you claim so readily as "this is why were the one true church" proof, are nothing more than once a year Catholics, who outside the obligatory show your face to keep membership type of Catholic? your own Pope has stated that he'd prefer a much smaller church, if they were all faithful, instead of Catholics-in-passing.

the fact that you would quote such smallminded garbage is dismal. You truly are looking through the magic looking glass, and coming up with the figures that you want to see.

Why don't you do a little research.

Do you believe these converts are less intelligent than you?

Do you believe that they have less knowledge than you?

Do you believe they have been deceived by Satan?

What's you theory?

I already posted my theory. That yapping off about converts from one denomination to another is petty and smallminded. It goes both ways. Of course, you managed to find a passage so intellectually bigoted, that it takes the cake.

You are evading the questions.

mostly becuase they have no bearing on my point. But I'll humor you out of morbid curiosity to see what you'll say next.

Do you believe these converts are less intelligent than you?
I do not question the intelligence of those who convert to, or from Catholicism. their intellect is of absolutely no note.

Do you believe that they have less knowledge than you?
same as above.

Do you believe they have been deceived by Satan?
now how would I know that? Some may have been, some not. I don't pretend to know the diabolical tricks that Satan pulls.

What's your theory?
again, my theory is anyone who posts conversions from one denomination to another as if it proves something is using smallminded and petty tactics. I believe I was abundantly clear on that.

Protestant clergymen converting to Roman Catholicism is not big news, what would be even bigger news if all the congregation they were a minister of also joined Catholicism.

Ex-Pentecostal shares his Catholicism

He began to see that as a pastor, he was missing apostolic succession and a hierarchy that ensured continuity of teachings. It took a two-year journey during which he sought help from other Catholic converts, but after he saw what he needed to do, “it was clear as a bell,” he says.
Jones joined the church in 2000. His wife, family members and 54 of his church’s members followed.

I believe that you will find, if you actually read the conversion stories, that these are intellectually impressive men and women of God who made some tough choices in order to fully follow Jesus.

Many lost their livelihoods and their friends. These stories are not smallminded or petty.

noooo.... quoting it as if it proves something is smallminded and petty.

I'm fair certain that you would have something to say about priests who made tough choices to leave Catholicsm.

I'm sure it would be along the lines of "deluded, ill-studied, low quality, deceived by Satan, etc.. etc.." the double standard shines like a beacon.
