Genesis 16:2. “Sarai said to Abram, “GOD has not seen fit to let me have a child. Sleep with my maid. Maybe I can get a family from her.” Abram agreed to do what Sarai said”

It is a big temptation to give God a bit of a hand to meet our needs and deep desires.
David was persecuted by Saul and twice he had the power and opportunity to DELIVER him self from this affliction. But twice he said “God forbid that I should kill the Lords anointed”. He waited for God to remove the sadness and pain, and to exalt him.
On the other we see Abraham and Sarah who didn’t wait for Gods time and so they tried to help God fulfil His plan and promise, it wasn’t His TIME or WILL, and so they ended up causing even more pain by having Ishmael.
For us it could be the pain of waiting for God to grant us a spouse or a job or remove some painful situation.
We all have the POWER and ABILITY to help God, we could go down to the pub or club and find someone who would meet our emotional needs, but what pain it cause us (unbeliever is not Gods will).
If you are good looking you could have had many opportunities of meeting a dear potential spouse, but of course it isn’t the good looks that finds you a spouse it is Gods TIME and CHOICE.
We have in fact chosen to follow Gods plan, rather than to find a quick fix for our pain.
When we hurt we must cry to God and rely upon His mercy as David did, and then when the time is right God will remove the pain and replace it with blessing. “The Blessing of the Lord makes one rich and adds no sorrow with it” When we wait for Gods time and choice we shall WEEP with JOY and be OVERWHELMED by His grace and mercy. Be strong and don’t give in

But John I hate to wait :p

Yes, God's perfect timing is in everything and the hard part is not leaning on our own understanding of what is going on. At the moment my constant prayer is "Lord, I made a mess of this. I should have waited for you but instead I did it all on my own and now it is a mess."

In our modern day lives we don't have to wait for anything. Everything is going faster andfaster and we don't want anybody including God to stand in the way of the progress we are making. We see our needs and desires and go after which is we are led to believe is the right way to live. But sometimes we are going so fast that we forget the lessons that we need to learn or we see the warnings. If I could do last year over, I would and I would take everything slower.

So as I start this year, I am grateful for the reminder that I don;t have to have all the answers. I don't have to be perfect. I don't have to solve all my problems because I have a God who will do it for me. Just you wait and see.

Thanks John!

Luke 11:9. “And I say to you, Make requests, and they will be answered; what you are searching for, you will get; when you give the sign, the door will be open to you”

Today at work, the phone rang and I was busy doing other important things, further away. The phone rang and rang “Not answering I said” I am too busy. Well this person kept ringing, until I finally decided to answer it. But as soon as I was walking to answer it the person hung up!
What a lesson, how near are to receiving the longing desires of our hearts and may be God is just walking toward us to answer and suddenly we say IVE HAD ENOUGH! I’m not asking more I give up! God doesn’t care, It doesn’t work!
Listen, it may be that you are a prayer away from that weary trial ending or a prayer away from receiving that special longing. DONT GIVE UP like my colleague did KEEP ASKING He will be faithful in the end.

Today i read a verse about Peter walking on water. Peter did a miracle, or should i say was part of a miracle.
There things in our lives we really want to happen, some are large and may be require faith for they are biggies to sort out.

Peter knew Jesus could do a miracle and help him to walk on water. But Peter had to keep looking at Jesus for that miracle to happen.

We need to LOOK to JESUS who is the author and COMPLETER of our FAITH... Jesus will complete what we have believed for but we need to LOOK at Him.

He had to FOCUS on Jesus lovely face and see only Him and as he did so he was able to walk on water.

We have longings in our lives, but we need to enjoy life now and not when these actually happen. We need to FOCUS and look at Jesus and then the miracle will happen. As we are delighting in Him the miracle will begin to happen even if we cannot see it.

Its hard waiting and hope deferred does make the heart sick, but looking at Jesus and enjoying Him will help us while we wait for the miracle to happen in our lives, perhaps for a dear spouse that seems so impossible, :) John

John 11:39 “Jesus said, Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said, Lord, by this time the body will be smelling, for he has been dead four days”

Last night I was thinking of what to write today. Well I thought of the helpless state of past situations in my life. You see there are times when the situation seems hopeless that we are praying about, yet deep down there is some hope. Lazarus was dead but he had only just died, so Jesus could raise a dead person. Jesus could raise and turn around a dead situation.

But then dead becomes deader than dead as regards hope not only hope of a miracle had gone but also now the body was decaying. I mean that was just beyond hope now.
Well I have situations in my life that were once just hopeless or dead, but now they have gone to “decay” they are beyond or help as it seems. Yet with God this is not so, and even from the ashes of impossibility there is till hope with God. All I need to say is “Lord the situation is beyond or hope, yet with you that can be changed, so please help me just to believe that”

John that is a great reminder. Yes, there are things in my life at the moment that I feel like are dead. I don't really feel like there is any hope in this situation. But then the Lord can change so much in my life in such a short amount of time. I know that there are promises out there for me. There will be a time when all the pain I have suffered will be forgotten.

It makes me wonder how Martha must have felt leading up to that moment. To know that all your dreams are not only dead and buried but have started to rot and disintegrate. There is no hope. The decision has been made. There is no going back. But then Jesus comes along and says hold on a minute. I can do whatever you thought was impossible.

I have been there many times and even today, I am still there. Some of my dreams are starting to decompose and I am not sure if there is any way that they can be brought back to life. But then I know that if I relied only on my own strength they never will. It is only through Christ alone that these dreams can be revived. So I am going to hold onto Him. He did it for Martha and He will do it for me.

God bless

Amen John. This is just an awesome post. I know there are many times that I could have walked on water if only I had the faith in Christ to step out. Thank you for the reminder (as always) where my focus needs to be.

Hey Evie thanks for your reply... yes i need to put this into practise as well! :)

Lol you don't have to thank me. I love reading your posts. I always find that they hit a spot in my life that I need to think about.

It always brings me back to my question - am I enjoying life or waiting for it to begin? There seems to be a lot in life that I have thought I should wait to do. I always have a long list of things to do when I get back home to Australia! But then I get home and find I don't end up doing it and leave for another country!

So starting now I am just going to have to step out in faith. Know that Jesus has my back in all this and who knows what will happen? Even if I fall I know I have some strong arms to catch me and a wonderful Father that can fix all the messes I make.

God bless

1 Samuel 30:4. “Encourages him self in the Lord”
As I was reading the Word of God these thoughts came to me in 1 Samuel 30:4.
You see David’s distress caused him to CRY until he had no more power to cry!
Have you been there? I have, and it hurts real bad, crying with a broken heart in utter distress and seeing God bless others and seemingly not you.
But look David in v6 after his grieving begins to think clear and “Encourages him self in the Lord” that’s what we need to do, take a deep breath look up and say “Lord you are with me I know”.
The word says “Although it delays wait for it” yes wait even at seeming delays, for God to change your life around, to bring joy and brightness into your life, that may be seems to be so sad now and so many down things get you. There is light there is hope. The Word says “Wait, rest in the Lord Wait patiently for it” and “You have need of patience that AFTER you have done God will you may receive the promise” You need to do Gods will first what ever that is for you, as I had to do once.
Do be strong they pain of our hearts is read by Gods Spirit, He groans with us, and will abundantly reward us.

Excellent verse John. I loved reading it in the message - v 6

David strengthened himself with trust in his God

Wow those are powerful words. Where does my strength come from - God. I trust Him. But how much do I really trust God? I am only as strong as my trust in my Lord God. If I don't believe and trust He can and will overcome then I am weak.

Good words to think about today.
