This journalist took a stand he knew would ruin his life, he made a statement that he felt was more important than his life itself. He has become an icon of bravery, just like the Chinese man who faced down a column of tanks, then disappeared from the earth. My prayers go out to this shoe thrower, that he may survive his punishment and live to enjoy the acclaim of a grateful world.

I don't see the Iraqi journalist's shoe-throwing insult as heroic. In all the commotion, Press Secretary Dana Perino suffered a black eye from a microphone that was jarred during the melee. Also, 17 people were killed and 22 injured during altercations that erupted after the shoe-throwing incident.

Would you throw a shoe or a pie at George W. Bush if you knew that people would suffer and die as a result of your political stunt? There is no cause in Iraq left to die for, imo. Saddam's regime is crushed and Pres. Bush was signing an agreement that would see U.S. troops gone in 3 years.

This reporter's action is the sort of belligerent behavior that gives American soldiers and politicians itchy trigger fingers.

The guy has already had his arm broken and the crap beaten out of him. He'll be lucky if he isn't waterboarded.

Except for a few million rednecks I think the guy pretty much expressed what the entire world thinks of George Bush, Jr. at this point.

Flying shoes aside, I STILL insist, as I consistently have, that the people who voted for this fool - TWICE! - owe the entire world an apology - and a sincere promise NEVER to act so stupidly again.

But bombing and sanctioning Iraqis into the dark age for 15+ years is? Give your head a shake.
In all the commotion, Press Secretary Dana Perino suffered a black eye from a microphone that was jarred during the melee.

In all the commotion 100 of 1000's of Iraqis have been killed...tsk tsk.

Would you throw a shoe or a pie at George W. Bush if you knew that people would suffer and die as a result of your political stunt?
He thru a shoe at a fool and a murderer, so would most anyone else in the world given half a chance.
There is no cause in Iraq left to die for, imo.
You want to kill this guy for throwing a shoe??? Whats wrong with you???
Saddam's regime is crushed and Pres. Bush was signing an agreement that would see U.S. troops gone in 3 years.
Oh..it was Saddams regime you went to crush?? Some one should have slipped that memo to Powell before he made an ass of himself at the UN.
This reporter's action is the sort of belligerent behavior that gives American soldiers and politicians itchy trigger fingers.
So it would be just fine and dandy for one of your soliders to murder this guy???

It would have been funnier if an old lady had come out of a house and started beating Bush with her shoe... a bunch of little old Iraqi ladies scolding him and beating him with their shoes. :)

Look, were talking a pair of shoes here... the secret service was probably laughing too hard to stop the second one.

What the man did was wrong... still there is something poetic/artistic about his actions. My understanding is that he's been severely beaten, possibly had an arm and several ribs broken and looking at a long sentence in an Iraqi prison with the absurd charge that he tried to kill a foreign head of state with his shoes.

I pray that someday both the reporter and President Bush recieve true justice.

I'm hoping this man gets the punishment he deserves. Hopefully he serves some good time for his ASSAULT on a world leader.

Whether or not you agree with the man, like or dislike President Bush or like or dislike America does not excuse the fact that what this man did was absolutely absurd and unnecessary. I don't care what kind of statement he was trying make, it should not call for any type of violence.

Not only is it ridiculous that many Americans are defending this assault, but its very surprising that the so called "peace loving" hippie liberals are all in favor for this. It's absolutely sickening that so many in our country have lowered themselves to this unrespectable and perverse level.

The post is not well because the praise for him is inaccurate and overdone. This man is a disgusting dog who bit the hand that feeds him. In Saddam's regime which was destroyed by Bush the man would have been tortured and killed by the government for throwing a shew at Saddam. Also his family would likely have been killed as part of the punishment and to set an example. Since the man obviously does not understand this it shows how morally he deluded he is. If we had not intervened it is likely that the same amount of people or more would be dying as now and it would continue into the future whereas now people can vote and determine for themselves how their nation can go. Also this man is blind to the fact that these widows are overwhelmingly so because of Muslim extremists. However, much the like the Americans who are mimicking him this man is a slimy coward. It takes no courage to attack someone who you know will not hurt you back. It takes courage to fight a real evil like Saddam or the Muslim terrorists in Iraq. In my opinion that is why some European leaders and even countries prefer to criticize America for being messy in Iraq and the war on terror instead of criticizing the terrorists themself. It takes no courage to criticize us because they know we are not going to cut their heads off. It is much easier to be a coward and ridicule the guys who are actually sticking their necks out than to face the guys who would cut those heads off.

This is a well written post:

This is ridiculous because there is no prerogative to waterboard a dimwit for throwing his shoe at the most powerful man in the world.
Except for a few million rednecks I think the guy pretty much expressed what the entire world thinks of George Bush, Jr. at this point.
Your post speaks for itself. You consider anyone who disagrees with you to be a redneck. I wonder why you choose to use such racist terminology? It is apparent that there is much hate in your heart.

If you think that tearing down an evil regime and replacing it with a budding democracy is stupid then the words I have to describe you with cannot be expressed due to the rules on this forum. Your post speaks for itself: you think it is a fault to destroy genocidal regimes. Given that the Third Reich was a genocidal regime, as was the Ottoman Empire, then it is logical to conclude that your morality is the type that condones their respective genocides. I wonder what Christ would say of people who condone such things? I wonder why you are even allowed at a site called "Christian".

Well you should be happy to hear he's had his arm and ribs broken during "questioning".

Since the man obviously does not understand this it shows how morally he deluded he is.
Bush?
If we had not intervened it is likely that the same amount of people or more would be dying as now and it would continue into the future whereas now people can vote and determine for themselves how their nation can go.
Since the first war? 15 years how many Iraqs have been killed by Americans and Brits? Are you even awake while you're writing this stuff.

No, sorry, you're wrong again, most people who have died in Iraq in the last 17 years have been as a direct result of US led santions and Wars.
However, much the like the Americans who are mimicking him this man is a slimy coward.
He showed courage of his actions by ending his career and facing physical torture and eventually possibly, (if people like you had their druthers), death. Your president is the coward, ducking a shoe, what a lame duck.
It takes no courage to attack someone who you know will not hurt you back.
see above.

It takes courage to fight a real evil like Saddam or the Muslim terrorists in Iraq.
Just don't ask Bush and his cowardly buddies to do it personally, you'd make them go hide their yellow streaks in the National Guard again.
In my opinion that is why some European leaders and even countries prefer to criticize America for being messy in Iraq and the war on terror instead of criticizing the terrorists themself.
Messy?? You mean the rolling Gong show of horrible leadership??
It takes no courage to criticize us because they know we are not going to cut their heads off.
OK, the scum who flew the planes on 9'11 are dirt-eating pigs, and anyone who supports their actions are too. Happy??

Your post speaks for itself. You consider anyone who disagrees with you to be a redneck.

...and you think anyone who disagrees with ANYTHING you say is a commie. Tit for Tat.
I wonder why you choose to use such racist terminology? It is apparent that there is much hate in your heart.
You're the only one in this thread showing a heart of stone buddy. Are you really a Christian?
I wonder why you are even allowed at a site called "Christian".
A question I've been asking myself about you since I started reading your hate spewing posts. You've probably done more damage to the reputation of the Christian faith than HolyRoller did in a year.

You come across as a self-centered, hate-mongering, unfeeling, heartless person in virtuily every one of your responses. Yeah, your a "good" Christian alright.

Your seeming lack of any compassion for your fellow human beings makes me sick.

There, that should be enough to have my post reported like you did the last one.

Who's the coward KC? For all intents and purposes, it appears to be you.

Well you should be happy to hear he's had his arm and ribs broken during "questioning".
That's the risk he took by committing such an unnecessary and ridiculous act of violence.

No. The man you are praising for assaulting the president of the United States.

Since the first war? 15 years how many Iraqs have been killed by Americans and Brits? Are you even awake while you're writing this stuff.
Oh my word! Its amazing how you randomly say something as ignorant as this without backing it up with studies and evidence and proceed to tell the writer you are quoting how he can't possibly be awake while typing. How hypocritical. Somehow you are busier equating innocent Iraqi's death to the "evil" Americans and Brits than to evil men like Saddam Hussein who regularly killed his own people. Have you even bothered reading your post, buddy?

No, sorry, you're wrong again, most people who have died in Iraq in the last 17 years have been as a direct result of US led santions and Wars.
Once again, you have made the same absurd statement without backing it up with evidence. How sad.
He showed courage of his actions by ending his career and facing physical torture and eventually possibly, (if people like you had their druthers), death. Your president is the coward, ducking a shoe, what a lame duck.see above.
So I guess you can say the exact same thing about William Ayers, or John Wilkes Booth or any assassin who were successful or almost successful in their attempts at "sticking it" to the power. Your colors are truly showing.

Just don't ask Bush and his cowardly buddies to do it personally, you'd make them go hide their yellow streaks in the National Guard again.
Yes. We all know that every President this country has ever had took the front lines in the wars that were fought during their administration.

...and you think anyone who disagrees with ANYTHING you say is a commie. Tit for Tat.
Weird. I don't remember him saying anything at all about commies. Hmmm.....could this be another failed attempt at looking whitty?

You're the only one in this thread showing a heart of stone buddy. Are you really a Christian?
Nice one there! You really stuck it to him!
A question I've been asking myself about you since I started reading your hate spewing posts. You've probably done more damage to the reputation of the Christian faith than HolyRoller did in a year.
Way to continue making yourself look like a pompous jerk! Your accomplishing a lot here, man. Keep it up!

You come across as a self-centered, hate-mongering, unfeeling, heartless person in virtuily every one of your responses. Yeah, your a "good" Christian alright.
Go on! Keep attacking this man's Christian faith. By lowering yourself to the lowest level of scum, you can really make changes around these forums. Heck! I'm sure the guy will come back in and give you a pat on your back for being so patriotic!

Your seeming lack of any compassion for your fellow human beings makes me sick.
I find this statement quite ironic and funny. YOU are the one supporting the attack upon a world leader. YOU are the one making excuses for why it was okay. Where is the love for your fellow man? You obviously believe that George Bush is a murderer, but are you adhering to God's word by turning the other cheek and forgiving him? Doesn't look like you are to me. Honestly, ask youself, what would Jesus do? No doubt, you'll probably try to weasel yourself out of this by taking the word of God and twisting it to somehow fit your excuses to why your entitled to feel this way about a human being.

Who's the coward KC? For all intents and purposes, it appears to be you.

Apparently you already have - in your mind. :D

Bush, Cheney and their minions are about as popular as a gut load of ground glass- now that people know the full extent of their evil and incompetency. The fact that you missed the boat is sad. All the rest of us can do at this point is explain it to you. Unfortunately we can't understand it for you.
