...acceleration to 30 m.p.h. will kill you, flat earth, geocentrism, alchemy, different weights fall at different speeds, etc.

Just off the top of my head --- :)

It's better to stick your head in the sand and learn nothing, that way you'll never find out you were wrong all along and nobody can criticize you!

Sweet, I got to try me some of this Biblical literalism stuff!

You shouldn't even be defending this guy, AVET.
I don't even know the guy. He doesn't go to our church. I'd venture to say you guys don't know him, either; outside of what the media tells you.

I watched his simpleton video and I feel he is mis-leading or telling the masses in the audience what they want to hear.

Seeker, has it ever occurred to you that the people are just as responsible as the nuts that supposedly "mislead" them? What do you think God gave us the Bible for? A doorstop?

I read the book, I believe it was called, Six Years in Hell. It was written by a husband and wife who actually spent six years in the People's Temple.

They tell the story about how Jim Jones was always throwing the Bible down on the pulpit and calling It a "paper idol."

One day, a Seventh Day Adventist joined the temple. This man knew his Bible inside and out, and no matter what Jim Jones said, he couldn't shake this man's faith.

The man was one of the men who left the temple before the massacre occurred.

Side note: The authors of that book were mysteriously "eliminated" shortly after writing that book.

I know him only through his own video. Did you watch it? In it, he LIES. He tells FALSEHOODS. He makes up stories about Charles Lyell and then has the audacity to ask his flock to look him up on the internet. Well... that may have been a mistake, because if any do so (most will not bother... like yourself) they will quickly find out he is a LIAR. Fortunately for him, most of "the flock" will not look Lyell up... they will just remember how Lyell invented the 4.5 byo geologic column based on evolutionary assumptions and how a Goldless conspiracy among stupid paleontologists and all of the nation's high school teachers and universities maintains the fantasy by using rocks to date fossils and fossils to date rocks.

What do any of these "examples" (some which make no sense or do not represent any change whatsoever) have to do with this "Good Christian" lying about Historical Facts?

Pluto being downgraded
Pluto was not downgraded so much as the word 'planet' given an operational and classifying definition. Before that, planet was just 'whatever everyone says a planet is'; now planet has a very specific definition, and by the criteria everyone would consider a planet by, either Pluto had to go or a whole bunch of other insignificant rocks had to be included as well.

Another element being added to the periodic table isn't a fact change, it's us discovering something new. How does that change the fact that we now now it exists, the fact that it used to exist unkown to us? The fact that we used to not know it exists, now we do? Name the fact change here.

You have yet to name any fact-changing.

And your Pluto nonsense is getting aggravating. Cut it out.

None of those are examples of a 'fact changing'. They are no more than gains in our knowledge.

They are changes in our understanding, not in 'facts'.

The final four were debunked before the advent of modern science. What's wrong with archaeopteryx, evolution, lucy, and SETI?
The doomsday clock, abortion, the cold war are political, not scientific ideas.
Much of the remainder is simply ideas that were revised in light of new, superior information.

Fossils dating strata and strata dating fossils is not a tautology. The reason is that while these are different pieces of data, they really answer the same question. The fossil and the strata have the same age. If you know the species found in the strata, you can use the spans of those species to give an aproximate age to the rock. If you know the age of the strata, you can use that as the age of the fossil.

Let's examine the pieces of evidence that can be used to date a fossil, all should agree:
1) radiometric date of the strata (multiple methods, each being a separate piece of data)
2) timespan of species found in layer
3) known ages of strata above and below
4) dates and span of species of the strata above and below
5) retroactive tectonic activity can corroborate chronology and geographically relevant phenomena such as climate and ecosystem.
6) species and dates of layers that were contemporaneously geographically and/or chronologically adjacent even if they no longer are.

Thats more than six independent pieces of data that should all agree with the date.

Yup --- scientists had us on the brink of disaster with that one. And although I refused to be afraid when they predicted major tidal waves with the 1988 alignment of the planets (Harmonic Convergence), the earth running out of resources soon (the little girl's analogy given to the Club of Rome about algae in a pond), and the Radon Gas scare; I have to admit, that one had me a little spooked - (not much though). ;)
