There is nothing wrong with sitting or laying on the floor seeking God. No going after God is NOT of the enemy, or the Kundalini spirit. That IS a lie of Satan being told to God's people to keep them powerless. There is nothing wrong with sutting your trap and listening to the Father for a while. And for one to say otherwise only goes to show they do not understand and are blinded to the truth

I totally agree, and I think that this Kundalini junk needs to stop being propogated through this forum. So many wannabes, and only One original. PRAISE THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS!

Hey Sue:thumbsup:

How are you doing?

Hi Lismore, good to see you brother, I haven't seen you lately. :wave:

I have one question- prayer soaking- what is it?

God Bless You

:)

Merryheart's post fits my own understanding pretty well:

I think it means soaking yourself in His presence - same in my mind as waiting before Him and listening for His voice, and feeling His presence. It includes falling before Him in worship, and allowing yourself to be enfolded in His love.

That's what I was expecting/aiming for, but so far I just feel like I'm laying quietly alone in a room with a few others doing the same and waiting...restful, but no more so than resting on the sofa with a book, and probably less so than looking out of the window on a long journey, which is possibly my very favourite "activity" in all the world! :)

I wonder why some people find soaking prayer so powerful and others of us seem untouched?

Of course, I've only been about 4 times, and we only soaked for about half an hour, maybe not enough to break through my hard heart. Although my mind would probably just get progressively more fretful the longer I waited, so...ummm... I remain undecided about it as a useful tool for myself, though I recognise many find it a helpful mode of prayer.

I'm wondering if there should be more scripture involved. I think I'll "arm" myself with something to bring to mind next time, so I don't drift aimlessly.

hard heart ??? somehow i doubt that!

Are you worshiping the Lord in your heart and telling Him how much you love Him as you lay there?

Well it's odd, I intended to, but somehow I just went a bit blank. I must make an effort to stay alert. Oh wait, aren't we meant to relax? :confused:

I think maybe it's all still a bit new, and because the church is new and I don't know anyone, my "antennae" are twitching and I am not relaxing.

Church can be such hard work. :doh: Can I come to yours this week?!

hey, we have a spare room with your name on it. you ever seen Oregon ???

relaxing in and of itself will only put you to sleep ^_^ to enter His presence, you need praise

Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations." Psalm 100:2-5

I have a beautiful painting a friend did for me of the Oregon coast, but I've not been there, (yet!)

Yes, I see what you mean. So when I'm soaking I need to continue to praise God the same as when we worship together, but quietly inside my head.

That is what I do. Have to admit, we haven't done that together in our church, but many practice it at home. Our basic church structure is

Sunday School - we have a topic, and we discuss. sometimes there is a leader, sometimes not. (our main SS teacher travels for work frequently - when he isn't there, sometimes he sends something, sometimes someone else has something, or sometimes we just talk about what is going on with each of us. Once we had 4, and we just listened for a prophetic word for each person present one gal wrote and drew these. I still have mine.)

Prayer - we gather in a room and pray for a variety of things, some out loud, some quietly.

Service - we praise and sing, and then get a more formal teaching.

Sometimes things arise that change our format - and we just go with what we feel God is doing. We are small, so its easier to do this than in a larger group setting.

Hi Lismore, good to see you brother, I haven't seen you lately. :wave:

THanks:wave:

I have been on holiday for a few weeks~ on the Island of Lismore and on the Island of Barra. Saw a whale and got soaked by rain most days. great fun;)

It might be tempremental. Im not the sort of person for long prayer meetings or long prayers...........so it maybe wouldnt be for me. Like the man who Jesus spoke about, going to his room and closing the door, then saying a short prayer, thats me! :blush:

Talking about long journeys. I really like sitting on a ferry boat watching the world go by. There is a ferry from Oban to Castlebay on Barra, it takes about nine hours and passes some wonderful scenery.

God Bless You.

:)

Now...about soaking. Riverpastor would be a good one to speak about this. As I know he supports it fully and says it has value.

For me personally, I haven't done it too much but when I did I was on my face before the Lord and it was a sweet time. My church doesn't do it, but would say anytime you are resting in the Lord's presence is a good time to see the value in resting before the Lord.

Many of us twist and squirm in Abba Father's lap. This almost seems a prophetic act to me. Lying still and meditating upon the Lord. Focusing on being like a baby in His arms. Sounds beautiful to me! :)

Well said, lismore (m). :wave:

Matt 6:5-8

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
KJV

Love you,
Connie
