Not particularly. Why? Because the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. God can use the most ridiculous personality to do His work, and He does. It's unimaginable to us, but for some reason, the Lord often chooses the most foolish things of this world to confound the wise. Without a doubt, God anoints whom He wills....although I believe prayer does help.

First of all I need to state that we are all anointed.

But do you believe a greater more powerful anointing comes through obedience?

If we do not live a life that is set apart from the world and holy then it will severely compromise or destroy our witness. I know a friend of mine would not hear anything I would advise him on even though my advice was directly from Scripture.

However...when I surrendered all the areas of my life to God and took up my cross, he suddenly changed and now receives my counsel.

Holiness is essential to our spiritual walk and ability to be effective for God.

Holiness, like love, mercy, grace, forgiveness, compassion, etc... are all parts of who God is. If we say we have God and yet we try and compartmentalize ourselves away from one of these things we have allowed ourselves to be deceived and to be made of little or no effect.

13 "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:13-16

Well, Jesus established the principle of "faithful with little will rule over much"...

"His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord. Matthew 25:21

I know this is supposed to be Judgement Day, but the principle seems to transcend this to this life as well.

He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? Luke 16:10-11

So, I would have to answer YES, I believe it does.

I've been working with some depth on the death of the "old man", and that would seem to confirm it as well. As we are obedient to subdue the "old man" or crucified with Christ, then it is not I but Christ who lives within me. From experience, it would seem that the more Christlike we become, the more of Him is revealed in us.

Yes to answer the OP's question.

If you do NOT obey God and others (like your parents, in my case) then you will not get any where.

I'm a living testimony of it.

I was NOT obeying my parents at all in Jan because they were thinking about going to a Methodist church. I said some things that I really shouldn't have said about the Methodist church (yes I repented...lol) and I finally obeyed my parents in going to that Methodist church. Did I want to? NO, not at all. Do I sill want to go there today? No. Why am I going? I'm OBEYING my parents. Since I have obeyed my parents...so many MORE AWESOME things have happened. Within 2 weeks...2 WEEKS...of obeying my parents. I started having visions. More recently, parents are starting to clap in the Methodist church along with others from the church, my parents are letting me go to a Church of God University (HALLELUJAH!), I've had more visions, words for people/friends, etc, etc, etc.

If you do NOT OBEY God do not expect much in return.

God Bless,
Josh

God spoke to me about 12 years ago if I remember the date correctly and said the following almost audibly after a season of prayer and fasting.

"Obedience is better than sacrifice"

Then I had a dream that showed me wanting to do all the big stuff whilst pooh poo-ing the little stuff. I got the message.

The closer we walk with God (day by day), brings a tangible anointing from my experience......Not found specifically in scripture i know....but its still the case in my opinion (will mean something to some and not to others).

I have been in the glory realm before and its a wonderful place, but its take dedication and true obedience to remain in that realm.

Yes I do,

But, not because we have earned it.

Because we (through obedience) have matured enough to handle more.

A chainsaw is a marvelous tool, but, you don’t give one to a 5 year old son. In the same way, God only gives us what we can handle without hurting ourselves or someone else.

Pine,

but to get the anointing you have to become obedient first.

I totally agree with this. This is what I see. An annointing isn't on us in any way. It is on what the Lord wants done. If we are listening to him he puts an annointing on our ability to get it done. He works through us. It has nothing to do with us one way or another. If we're not obedient to him how could He use us.

I, also, believe when someone becomes stupid in their hearing of the Lord or putting their twist on what He wants the Lord can put an evil spirit on him and use him that way. I actually saw this in total action for about four hours April last year. It was the spirit of confusion (babble). This person went from one person to another and literally babbled ... and has no memory of it. God is God. He controls all the spirits ... be they of Him or not.

nope..

why would Gods power,be limited to "my" holines...

I think it is the other way around...

The anointing makes us obedient.

Pine,

but to get the anointing you have to become obedient first.

I think they're both right. The anointing breaks the yokes of bondage...then anoints that person through which it breaks somebody else's yoke of bondage...anoints them...breaks somebody else's yoke of bondage...anoints them...etc. etc.

When we draw closer to GOD, He draws closer to us, and that presence of HIS cleanses us and purifies our spirit in prayer. People around us will be affected and convicted by that cleanliness or holiness of spirit that we are walking in. Yes,... long time Christians are affected also.

Stephen was so clean and pure in heart that his face shown like an angel and he was able to see The Father and The Son in heaven.

There is a difference, and it comes from spending time with Jesus in prayer and allowing Him to change you.

No, I don’t. We are anointed to be servants of God, period. Grace can never come from works (obedience). We are all anointed with the same Spirit from the day we came to Christ. We simply need to use what we already have, not seek for more. I think Christians do not use what they have either through ignorance or because they think they have to reach some higher (and often unattainable) level.

IMO.

~Jim

We are among one of two types of people: we will either leave a mark in the world or a stain.
