Genuine or Compatibility.
Often times we want to spend less money and save on resources. So rather than by genuine ink for our printers, we often tend to go for the “CHEAP” compatible type. This usually does the trick and our printer seems chug away happily. But sometimes the “compatible” cartridge seems to play up or does not give the same performance as the REAL GENUINE thing.

This could so easily be in a relationship. Deep down we need someone who is Genuinely Compatible with our nature.

Adam was given Eve who was perfectly genuinely compatible.

It can be the case that in pain and hurt or loneliness that we tend to look at someone and say “well they are quite nice” but deep down we know they are not the real genuine compatible one we so need.

I have seen woman who seem really nice but they lack that something that is all to me in a relationship “GENUINE ARTICLE” and the Spirit says hey why look at this person, I have a GENUINE article for you and not just a compatible one.
The genuine thing is made by the MAKER to a special standard and this is for us to. The one God wants for us is like Eve “genuine woman by the MAKER”.
Quick fix and cheap versions do the job but when it comes to a serious relationship only the genuine model will do.

:wave:Amen John!

This is really an important lesson to learn. I have been there many times and have learnt the hard way that it doesn't matter how hard we try and make it fit or work, it doesn't do the job.

This is where I struggle the most. I always want things to work out the way that I have planned and sometimes it is hard to cut our losses and move on. I was praying about this last night in regards to a couple of situations I have found myself in lately and so these words have touched me in a way that I never thought possible. They have given me a new sense of hope and direction so thank you John.

It is always better to let go of the inferior and allow God to fill us up with all that He wants us to be. I could keep filling my life with all this world has to offer but that won't get me very far. Only God can fill me up in a way that actually works well. Let me extend Johns story with a story of my own (if I could be so rude and take over again ;))

My sister and her husband had a really nice sports car. It was a Subaru with all the trimmings (you know the kind that everybody can hear before it arrivals and everyone has to check out as it drives past). They got offers for it to go into sports car magazines. It was nice and it could go really, really fast (which my sister definately didn't have a problem with!) Because this car was so special it had to have the premium unleaded petrol in it. You didn't just go and fill it up with any old petrol - it needed the best because it just didn't work as well on cheaper petrols. It liked to be filled with only the best. Sure it was more expensive thus came at a greater cost to my sister to fill up but the performance the car gave using the more expensive petrol clearly out weighed the price of filling up.

The same can be said with my (and your) life. To have the best performance, to do the best work, tolive up ti our potential we need to fill our lives with the best and the best is God. Nothing can match up to Him. Not in the heavens, not on the earth or anything below. So today as I head out I am reminded yet again where my focus should be. I don't want an inferior life so I am going to fill up on God and allow Him to fill my life in all areas including who my future spouse is.

God bless.

Small Faith
Matthew 17:20
“.. If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Be moved from this place to that; and it will be moved; and nothing will be impossible to you”

Matthew 6:30 “.. Oh you of little faith”

We may have little faith but at least we have faith. I work in the gardening industry and I can say now that there are seeds smaller than the mustard seed.

Begonia seeds are like dust to see! Yet they grow to beautiful flowers full of colour.
We may not have even MUSTARD seed faith but we can have BEGONIA seed faith. Yes very small but the start of a blessing.

At the end of the day faith honours God no matter how weak or small, every bit pleases God.
His word says that “He who comes to Him must believe that He is God and that He rewards those who seek Him”

Faith is still faith whether its big or small, so be encouraged how ever small your faith and perception of Gods power is, He will reward it and bless you.

Yes, John, faith is the start of something big. The joy of a seed is in the knowing that it will grow and produce something spectacular. It will grow into a plant which soetimes can take a short time and sometimes it can a very long time. After it has grown its roots, leaves, stems it can move forward into producing the thing we so desire - the flower.

However, you never know when a flower is going to bloom but your faith says it will. So we wait for the right season but not all flowers bloom in the spring or summer. Sometimes even the flowers that are supposed to bloom in those seasons don't produce their flowers and it is easy to get frustrated and lose hope. Some take a lot longer to grow than we anticipate and yet, when it finally happens, their beauty is still the same.

In the rose garden at the front of the house, there are 6 roses plants. They need to be cut back for the winter so that they can regrow in the spring and yet, on one plant, on the end of a long stem, there is a single red rose yielding the sweet smell that only a rose can give. So even in the winter a rose can be bloom and that is true for all of us.

God bless

Reading last night in Psalms I was moved by a couple of verses so I thought that I would add them here so that I could share them with you as they brought me comfort and strength.

"Be strong and take heart all you who hope in the Lord" Psalm 31v24

"Since You are my rock and my fortress for the sake of Your name lead and guide me" Psalm 31v3

The thought about the roses made me think a few different thoughts. One is that since it is the opposite season down there it made me think of the need to have respect and compassion for people who are in a different season. Two I need to plant some roses when I get my new house. Three the part about a rose blooming in winter may be a sign.

The psalm where you quoted it as saying "...hope in the Lord" makes me realize that is where my hope is. Even though or maybe it is beacause all my hopes ride on God there are times they seem awful thin. It is hard to hold onto that which you cannot see. Especially when much of the stuff you can see runs counter to God's promises. I guess that struggle is what develops and/or calls for faith.

When you least expect a blessing it comes!! You may be hurt or confused. Not knowing the direction to go or in some deep sadness. But suddenly expectedly God steps in and DELIVERS you or bless you. Could that be you today?
God is FAITHFUL He knows how you feel, only a little longer and you will see His blessing.

I hope it is indeed soon. I have seen evidence of Him working. Yet my endurance is getting thinner in some ways. In some ways my faith is growing, but my patience is shrinking. I have noticed this mostly when I am driving. My temper is a little shorter, or at least I am more prone to cuss out the person in front of me. It is weird.

I am wondering when God will come through. I have endured much. But lately it seems like the feeling of His promises to me is distant. I hear His voice more often, but not much comes through about Him fulfilling His word to me. I am getting more fearful of anything in the area of love ever happening for me. I am trying to take more steps of faith, but I feel less faith now than I have in the past. I feel like I had a mustard seed and now it is one of those tinier seeds you mentioned.

But I have some encouragement, I just read about a woman who was revived after rigor mortis had set in. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,357463,00.html That would pretty much be my hopes for love if God does indeed come through.

I thought that this was a good question I heard at church last night and wanted to share my thoughts and opinoins here.

Are you prepared to give everything up right now for Jesus?
Would you be able to give it up forever?

The truth is, for me, that I could give up everything right now but I am not a long time kind of person. I am the type of person who gives it up for a short period of time. After all, I lived 2 years in England, 2 years back home and then 2 years in Korea (see the theme there). The thought of 'settling' in one place for any longer period of time both fascinates me and scares me to death. Yet, I know that there will come a time (and more than likely sooner rather than later) God is going to call me to stay in one place.

So last night in church I was sitting there thinking about all these things (just as I am now) why is it that I am always looking for the next thing? Now don't get me wrong if God called me to be a wanderer like Abraham I would be fine (where my house is a tent and the Lord guides my path through the world). Its just that it always seems fine in the here and now but long term?

Hmmm just some food for thought...

Luke 10:17 And the seventy came back with joy, saying, Lord, even the evil spirits are under our power in your name.

True joy is not so much what God does through us but rather what God does to us.
In other words the joy or inner delight of Gods presence is more wonderful than all the blessing around us. Sure these blessings cause us to rejoice but He Himself is the sum joy of life.

It is possible to be taken up by the good things that are happening rather than being still and enjoying the real joy of Jesus alone.

Today "Be still and know that He is God"

Galatians 4:4 “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law”

For all prayers to be answered, they must all come under the law of “the fullness of time”. The fullness of time simply means to be in the will of Gods planned times of answering us.
“I was thinking about life’s ups and downs, and this thought came to me.
Our prayer for something that means so very much to us is like a combination lock of 1000s of "pins to line up" and every prayer we pray is like one of those pins (numbers) lining up and being open. When the final prayer is prayed that final pin will line up and the answer will come. Every prayer we pray is a step nearer that request.
Remember Daniel he prayed three weeks with little food before God finally was able to come to him via the angel. Some times we must battle against the enemy until we break through in prayer with God”

Its all to do with timing, Gods Glory, Other peoples blessing AND our blessing.

Excellent point John! Yes everything is done to God's perfect timing.

Last night I was thinking about a saying they have in Korea as sometimes it snows in the March/April when it should be spring. Anyway the saying doesn't translate well but what it means is that the winter was jealous of the spring and thus refused spring to come in all its glory.

I was thinking about this and how many times in the past I have refused to let go of something just because I wanted it so badly or even when I got it refused to enjoy because I wanted it the way that I wanted it to be. Many times I have held on to my life (like the winter snow holding on to the weather) to prevent what could happen to further my life. Even though what could have been would have been beautiful like the spring blooming, I held onto the winter or things that I wnated it. Everything has a season, so I am praying that today I will enjoy a new season with my Lord.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-7
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God that transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus" Philippians 4 v 6-7

This is the verse that came to my mind last night as I was writing my journal. There are many times that I have prayed but instead of accepting the peace that comes from Christ Jesus, I choose to anxious and still worry about it. I realised that many times it is not my prayer that is lacking but my unwillingness to let go of the stress associated with my problem that causes the problem.

So last night as I was writing about my day I realised that even the simplest of all situations can teach us so much about our own human nature. That in all things, no matter how simple or complicated they are, we are able to place our prayers at the feet of our Father and walk away with peace. We don't need to be anxious for in God's perfect timing things will happen.

God bless, Evie

Mat 15:22. “And a woman of Canaan came out from those parts, crying and saying, Have pity on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is greatly troubled with an unclean spirit.
But he gave her no answer. And his disciples came and said to him, Send her away, for she is crying after us”

Silence that makes you feel HURT and TEMPTED to curse God and give up on Him.
Silence, and deep silence when God seems unloving, unfair, unjust, unmerciful as tears drop down on the for and your heart breaks.

Hurt when you see others being blest by God and He turns His back on you it seems, Hurt when God seems to have put a mark on you and seems to put you through every sadness possible. I know what hurt is.

But God allows these agonising silences to mature our faith and trust in His PROMISES.

You see when the widow pleaded to Jesus for her child, Jesus met her with SILENCE, she felt rejected hurt and like giving up. She may have said "I though this Jesus was Kind etc" But you know what she did? She PERSISTED and didn’t give up she KNEW what God could do and would do even In the face of rejection. Jesus then turned and blest her.
God will be silent at times as He has to me, for year upon year NO ANSWER not for lack of faith nor a sinful life but TIMING, His timing must be right His will must be first His Kingdom must come first. Our feeble tarnished dull gold souls must be polished by the furnace of suffering, waiting and testing.

Don’t give up on what you know will happen. Don’t give up on the promises He has made to you, when silence comes it will pass by and blessing will come again as for me it has.

Every sorrow you suffer will make your love and experience of God the more heavenly

Maybe that is true if God ever does come through. But right now I really can't believe based on my experience. God does what we He will without regard to us. I am sick of the silence of God and His ignoring me. I have been as faithful as I am able and still He ignores my cries for Him to deliver me. Right now it feels like God does not care or listen. I have daily denied myself and taken up my cross for nothing. He blesses others and forgets me. I am just sick and tired of empty promises and empty arms. God has not come through yet and I am doubtful He ever will because there is no sign of Him keeping His word to provide for me. I do not know how much longer I can hold on or resist temptation.

Well said John. This was a great post. Yes, God's perfect timing is in all of this. God has made promises in my life and I know that they will come to be fulfilled. It is hard at the moment but like all the seasons they come to pass and the joy that comes at the end will cover all the pain felt along the way.
