  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You eveal a basic ambiguity in your sense of identity:
One of Satan's biggest tricks is to get us focused on the sins and errors of other people instead of concentrating on our own. On Judgment Day, Christ is not going to be sidetracked. He will be focusing on each one of us, and He's not going to let us get away with trying to get sidetracked into discussing other people's sins and errors.
We are a people. We are us. We are focusing on our (Christians)sins.

I asked an Indian once how to curse in Indian.
He looked at me like he didn't know what I was talking about.
I said, "You know, what is a word Indians say when they are expressing ill will, something bad, something evil."
He thought for a minute and said,"Waseca".
I said, "What does that mean?"
He said,"White man".

Ya think they knew something the "palefaces" didn't? :)

"Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind,

Whose Breath gives life to all the world.
Hear me; I need your strength and wisdom.

O Great Spirit of the North, who gives wings to the waters of the air and rolls the thick snowstorm before Thee,
O Great Spirit of the East, the land of the rising Sun, Who holds in Your right hand the years of our lives
O Great Spirit of the South, whose warm breath of compassion melts the ice that gathers round our hearts,
O Great Spirit of the West, the land of the setting Sun, with Your soaring mountains and free,

Prior to my conversion, I said the same thing, word for word.
Can't remember where the thread is but an ex-Christian on the NCR exclaimed his turning to Islam was a "reversion", and a seeker/atheist ask "what the heck does that mean" :D

My wife was a cradle Catholic only she didn't really practice until I converted. She followed me back into the Church, so I call her a revert.:)

Good for her!

John 7:37 In yet the last day, the great, of the feast, stood the Jesus and cries-out/ekraxen <2896>, saying, "If-ever any-one may be thirsting/diya <1372> (5725), let him be coming toward/proV <4314> Me and be drinking";

Yes, it has been good for her. She was mentioning to my brother the other day how much better life has been since we've both been practicing our Catholic faith.

Things go better with Christ.

it goes the other way for me. I realized that Catholicism was all a set of man-made rules.

My heritage is so Catholic. Down through centuries. No questions asked. Then I started asking questions.

No need to go over them.
A lot of my family on my Dad's side are RCs [I was born and raised RC myself] and when a RC relative died, I even prayed the rosary with them at the service. Don't know what I would do if a Jewish or Muslim friend/relative died.

That is awesome to hear about you praying a Rosary. :)

Just awesome... sorry about the relative that died. But they are probably in Heaven praying to God for LLoJ. :crossrc:

So that's what it takes?
Somebody's gotta die before you'll pray the rosary?;)
