  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biggest loser on CF.....

You can post your weigh-ins. That is not a problem at all. However, I am not going to post anyone's weight for them... the only exception would be if someone reached their ultimate goal and asked me to post it for them. Under those circumstances, I would think they person would want to do it themselves anyways.

I talked with D earlier. Here is something I thought of but was waiting for someone to bring it up....

I think we are going to assign a female "trainer" to each of the male "trainers" as well. If you are a female and uncomfortable reporting your weight to a man, you can talk to the female trainer. The only thing she will inform the male of is the pounds lost or gained, not your actual weight.

For example. Sue is on my team but is not comfortable telling her weight to a man. So, I have a training partner, Mary, and sue tells her the weight for the weigh-in reports. Mary simply tells me, "Sue has lost 4 pounds this week." Or "Sue has gained 2 pounds."

I don't want to alienate anyone for comfort reasons. I think accountability is a huge issue and I want you to be able to report weight to whomever you choose.

Coach
Sounds much better to me. :D Who are your female trainers going to be?

I already weigh under what I'm supposed to but I eat all the wrong foods. Thus, I will try and eat more healthily because I know that even though it doesn't show on the outside, my internal organs are probably crying right now. I won't post weigh-ins tho...since I definitely don't want to lose or gain weight. But I want to play too...I'll probably lose negatively by gaining or something. lol.

Well, we are still kicking ideas around on finalizing this...

I have been PMing with a couple of folks. A new idea has been thrown out and I would like input....

The new idea is guys vs girls! That way the girls would not have to worry about having to talk with the guys about weight. They could help encourage each other. I would find a couple of females to captain the girls team and go from there.

I would be like the "host" as well as co-captaining the gentlemen with Spicy. So, I would still be there to provide tips, answer questions, etc... for both teams. I am not going to leave out the ladies just because I am coaching up the boys.

Also, we want to have weekly challenges to help us meet goals. Here is an example of what that could look like:

Week 1: Exercise 3 times this week for 20 minutes. It needs to be something to elevate the heart rate

Week 2. Exercise 3 times for 25 minutes. No regular soda!!! Coffee limited to 10oz per day! Caffeine raises blood pressure and we need to avoid that.

Week 3: Exercise and no soda rules/coffee limits stay this same. This week's challenge is to create a vegetable side dish that tastes good and is healthy, then share the recipe with the rest of us

And so on and so on.

Thoughts?

I don't really like the idea of gals vs guys. The reason why is because it seems like EVERYthing gets turned into that kind of competition, and I'm worried about the division it seems to cause. That's just my opinion, though, and if everyone else wants to do it that way, I'll fall in line. :)

I do *love* the idea of the challenges! That would be great - but....can't we start with walking? LOL. Working out 3 times a week seems kinda like impossible to me right at this point. Again, if it can't be walking, I'll try to fall in line with whatever the challenge is. :p

PS I heard that you should only eat if/when your stomach tells you it's hungry (hunger pains) - I'm guessing this isn't true since people are suggesting 5 meals a day?

Exercising 3 times a week means to exercise at your level of fitness while pushing yourself just a bit...

So if that means walking for you then that's great!!! Just getting your body moving and your heart rate up is the point...and you want to push yourself just a bit as well...so if you walk around the block 4 times in 25 minutes then the next time try to walk around the block 5 times in 25 minutes...or whatever...but you get the idea :D

Coach - Maybe we could have assigned pairs to comprise the teams? That way, we don't have division by gender, but we still have a friendly competition. Just my thoughts.

If you are looking for a female to help co-captain one of the teams, I would be interested if you think I'm qualified.

Hey guys,

I think I'd rather go assistant or something, not actually leading a team.

things are going to get busy for me, I don'tknowthat I'll be posting regularly in the coming weeks so I'm hesitant to commit.

I don't really mind how we do it. I am just throwing out ideas to kick around. Nothing has been finalized right now.

Flnative, I have no problem with you working with a team. Hopefully we can finalize all of this over this week and get a start on Monday.

Is it to late to join in the games? I have been doing an atkins style diet (except for recently when i became pretty sick and had to revert to normal meals for a while) so far i've lost a quite a bit but i intend to continue for some time as i haven't reach my goal just yet :) so maybe having someone to yell at and or encourage me things might go even quicker
