"In the beginning God" - Genesis 1:1
"In the beginning dirt" - Evolutionists

Evolution is no more or less atheistic than horticulture or trigonometry. It also isn't about the origin of life. It's a scientific theory that explains, quite successfully, the curent diversity of species and their relationships with each other.

Seriously, that's it.

Evolution does not say "in the beginning, there was dirt". In fact, the best scientific evidence now available says "in the beginning, the entire universe was in an incredibly dense, incredibly hot state... and we're still not really sure we can call that 'the beginning'."

Now note that it isn't evolution that says this, it's cosmology. Evolution doesn't say the earth is billions of years old- that's geology. Creationists like to mislead people by claiming all these things fall under evolution because they don't want people to realize they reject just about all of modern science.

I see what your problem is. You are confusing the scientific Theory of Evolution with the mythology of Christian Creationism.

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

TeddyKGB put it pretty bluntly, but the man's got a point. You're creating what's called a strawman - a parody of your opponent's argument - and holding that up to ridicule. The problem is that you're not addressing the theory of evolution at all, but an uninformed mockery of it.

No evolutionist says "in the beginning dirt." Dirt is an organic byproduct. It can't exist until life has already arrived.

Also, try not to spend too much time quoting Kent Hovind. It will do nothing for your credibility.

You've just watched convicted felon and arch-idiot extraordanaire Kent Hovind's Seminar videos and now you're posting his "arguments" verbatim.
How Cuuuute~!

Considering that folks who interpret Genesis literally believe man was created from dirt (and women from dirt once removed), then shouldn't creationism be "In the beginning God made man out of dirt"?

(You know, now that I think about it, it seems awful weird for creationists to be proud to believe they came from dirt?)

Well... nice to see a nice quick set of responses :D.

I did not mean any to insult any of you. And as for the quoting... yes it was Kent Hovind although I'm not sure if it was a seminar or not

No, that post really was not my thinking... I put it out there to see what people thought.

Now that it is clear that I do not share that opinion maybe we can get into some more meaty discussion as opposed to replying so immaturely.

I agree with flatworm that the origin of the universe really doesn't have much to do with the evolutionary evidence and the two are often put together as if they were the same theory. Although I do take some offence to trying to hide the fact that I reject modern science. That's just an ignorant comment. There are many scientists out there with a strong belief in God and a strong belief in creation who would be quite offended at your comment (like Francis Collins, head of the Human Genome project).

So I guess now we can either talk about the beginning of the universe or evolution. Or we can just call it a thread.

I personally would like to know which theory of the beginning of the universe you guys believe in.

well, it couldnt have been like that "in the beginning" because man wouldn't have anywhere to live now would he?

I like to think we came from the dust and God breathed in life, you might like to think we came from a mitochondira that came from... wherever you want it to come from (or whatever other theory). Or you can go with Francis Crick and think that it was from outer space and not have to worry about proving anything

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA~!
Okay yeah, Creationists are not to be taken seriously...but if you even want to be humored, don't mention Kent Hovind or any of his arguments.
He's a moron and it's contagious.

Considering the lack of thought and maturity in the OP, I don't think you should blame others for providing the replies that post justly deserved.

It is good you acknowledge that. Next step is to acknowledge that the origin of life isn't evolution either.

Although I do take some offence to trying to hide the fact that I reject modern science.

Cosmology, paleontology, history, biology, genetics to name a few. To be a YEC you'll have to reject alot of modern science.

Francis Collins is an evolutionist btw. Of course that haven't prevented creationists from misrepresenting his views. That said, it's quite true that many brilliant theists work in science.

I personally would like to know which theory of the beginning of the universe you guys believe in.

All current matter and energy today seems to have originated with the Big Bang. What was before that (if it even makes sense to use the word "before") I have no idea. In fact no one knows, but that doesn't prevent people claiming that they have such knowledge.

Peter :)
