• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

today I'm dropping my son off at my mother in laws. Then I'm going to target. I haven't been anywhere by myself for a long time, but I'm feeling good today.
do you have a cell phone?

I find if I have an attack while I'm out somewhere by myself and I call someone and just talk to them for a few minutes it really helps me calm down quite a bit!

I have a big goal today. My in-laws are in town for 4 days. They will be here in a few hours. We don't get along too well, its a long story. Everytime they're here I always wind up in a bad panic attack. Let's just say I've been doing a lot of praying to God for strength. Time to put on a "happy" face.

I'm probably going to be driving to new places.
just keep your cell phone with you and if you feel anxious just know that you can call someone and have them talk you through it!!!!!

You'll do just fine..............

I had problems again last night waking up with "weird" feelings!!
I'm usually pretty good all day long but it's the night time that is bad for me.
I'm the same way. It's really bad when I start dosing off. I wake up and feel strange, it's really hard to explain. I hate it.

Thanks for the tip about the cell phone. I didn't end up driving alone to new places because it was more convenient for us to go in one car, so I didn't drive at all.

Do you think that it is more difficult to deal with the anxiety at night because everyone is asleep and there aren't as many people to talk to?

I used to have night anxiety, but I don't anymore unless I have a nightmare and wake up in a panicked state. Sometimes it helps to sit with my dog, call my friend who works the night shift (he calls me from work all the time so it is OK to call him), turn on the TV and the lights, etc.

Yes!!!!!!!! That is exactly why it is harder at night because you know you can't call anyone to talk to!!

That is great that you have your friend you can call who works the night shift!!!!
