Have any of you ladies done Clomid & IUI?

We met with the fertility doctor this morning and this cycle we are doing our first round of Clomid with IUI. I start clomid tonight for 4 days, and then go in for the IUI when I get a + OPK.

I'm a little nervous... not sure what to expect. Any advice? The dr said we have about a 20% chance of conceiving, and a 1 in 10 chance fo twins

Did you do clomid with timed BD first?

Have you done clomid at all yet?
No I've never done clomid, ever. Because of DH's sperm motility issues, we can do all the BDing and Clomid we want but the swimmers still won't get to where they're supposed to go.

That's what the IUI is for.

The dr said you can do Clomid w/out an IUI, but you can't do an IUI w/out clomid.

I started my first 2 clomid pills last night and today I feel horribly sick to my stomach- not sure if it's a side affect from the pills, or whether I'm actually getting the stomach flu :(

Her doctor knows what she is doing and has reasons for the plan! I am so excited! :prayer:
He knows what he's doing LOL :p

Yeah I got a dude fertility doctor. That's not the ideal situation but he's the best in the north west, so I can't complain. I'm lucky he even saw me.

Most fertility doctors that I have seen online, or heard about are male - I can't say that I know of a single female. I agree - not ideal, but what can you do?

Gotcha - that makes sense (I didn't realize about DH's swimmers). Your Dr will be watching you closely - hopefully you don't get too many follicles on clomid, which may cause him to cancel the IUI. Are you on 100mg?

I know that most people that have high-order multiple pregnancies are due to under-watched IUI cycles.

I wish you luck - I pray this is your month!!! :prayer:

I was looking for something else over here and found this FAQ - I thought I'd show it to you if you hadn't seen it yet.
Thanks I'll ready it.

Yeah I've already had my baseline tests on Monday- intravaginal ultrasound and full blood work.

I have 6 follicles on my left ovary but he couldn't get a good look at my right ovary to see how many were there.

He said 6 was good though, typical is 4, so I assume it must be a good thing LOL I am on 100mg of clomid. He said that once I have my IUI I have to schedule some blood work and whatnot during the 2ww... so yeah I'm definitely going to be monitored closely.

How's it going with all of the Dr appointments? That's my single fear if we have to go to IUI, etc... I think my immediate boss would be understanding, but if it is in the middle of month-end close it'll be hard!! I'll personally feel guilty since I'm the lead, but I know that I'm doing what I have to.

Normally if we have Dr appointments we don't have to take time off - but I don't know what'll happen if I have to have several in a week or month.

Yeah.... that's why I answered the way I did, I didn't know if you were keeping that a secret but I knew the reason why he was choosing to do both on the same month.... and I didn't want to share something that could have been in confidence.... so anyway I wasn't trying to attack you lovesdolphins or make you feel that way

Oh that's fine.... I mean I had a male obgyn deliver my first baby, and there is a male midwife that I see too (but its a team of midwives so he may or may not deliver baby)

So it appears as though I am having some sort of reaction to the Clomid- I just talked to the nurse and she said it definitely sounds like a reaction.

I left work early yesterday feeling nauseous and it later turned into a full blown headache- last night I didn't sleep AT ALL- I think I may have finally closed my eyes around 4:30- I was having horrible hot flashes/night sweats. It was terrible.

I didn't go to work again today... how discouraging. She told me to try taking them earlier in the day to see if that helps, so hopefully that relieves it.

I'm sorry you aren't reacting well to the clomid.

Were you taking them in the evening?

If something happens to where this cycle doesn't go as planned - maybe ask your Dr about Femara (from what I understand it has less side-effects).

Yeah the rash is gone... it seems like the hot flashes have stopped too.

BUT- I'm worried. I still haven't gotten my + OPK, so until that I can't have my IUI... the problem is I'm on CD 14 and I've NEVER been this late to get the LH surge, and therefore this late to ovulate. Does anyone know if Clomid can cause delayed ovulation?
