Though Luther was the progenitor of the Protestant movement; he was not God. The doctrines you listed are widely disputed within the various Protestant churches now extant in the US. To be honest, it is pretty fair to say that these tenets are outside of the mainstream within the US.

This nation would quickly fail. As religious theories changed within the churches the support structure for the nation would crack.

Though it would be amazing to see a Christian Taliban start up on the North American continent. I would love to see the hard talk on "religious extremism" with a nation full of nukes and fundies right on our border.

Well as long as burning the American flag is legal then I think that raising the Confederate flag should be legal. Weren't you just saying in another thread that America is no longer a land of freedom? But now you're recommending laws against free expression?

The confederate flag is a symbol of hatred and racism. Freedom of expression is important, but no right is absolute. Symbols supporting things such as Nazism and the racism of the Confederates should not be allowed, they need to be put behind us and left there.

What's scary is how the evangelicals have progressed in their aggression.

In 2000, during the end of the Clinton era back when they CLAIM all this started, secession wasn't even an idea, was only left by the craziest of the crazies.

Get over yourself, there are no shortage of examples of limits to free speech in America. Has your right to freedom of expression suffered because of this? No, certain uses of these freedoms serves only to harm society beyond and reasonable necessity and thus has no place in society. Germany has banned the support and display of neo-Nazism in an effort to leave that dark aspect of it’s past in the past and move on for the benefit of the entire German society. America would be at no ill effect to do the same with the racist and dark legacy of the C.S.A, which still retains a small but steadfast and violent minority of support especially in the Southern U.S among the racist white population.
