You know, it really never bothered me to use it, but when my kids were home, if they knew it was in something, they'd gag and say NO WAY!

My daughter wouldn't touch it!^_^

Good Morning to you Mary also my family here [the list GROWS]

We have 'something' over here called 'QUORN'
and is supposed to replace MEAT MINCE
and yes, I don't think it can REPLACE meat
UNLESS you have never had meat YOU WILL KNOW
RECOGNIZE it's presence

For sure, it can be used to fill-out a meat dish
but I, prefer the real thing.. as I am not a rabbit
[vegetarian]
:)

We have a George Foreman GRILL [FAT-EXTRACTOR :)
and when roasting in the oven
the fat, runs/dripss through a wire grill away from meat

Give it up ?
only in a case where supplies might become unavailable

Yep.... It doesn't get purchased here

Besides, I don't believe
there can be 'a substitute' for...... 'variety'
and 'selbst-beherrshungen' [self-control]

dave

Believe me, I have no intention of giving up meat! I'm just trying to cut the fat and calories in some dishes in my efforts to lose weight!

Hi sweetie!

HI Mary...God bless you....Have a great day...

Hi Sharon:hug: How are ya sweetie?

I'm bbbbbbbbbabaaaaaaaaaaack! The blog explains.

Well, its good to have you back!

Right now I am making tofu chili. It smells really good but the tofu in it still looks white. Don't know if its supposed to change color or not.

Unless you brown it with onions or something it probably won't change. I use the veggie ground round. It is tofu that has been made and seasoned to look and taste just like ground beef. It is really amazing. I can get it with mexican spice for tacos and italian for spaghetti and now even an oriental for stir fry. Actually regular firm tofu is good in stir fry but best to marinade it first in soysauce or whatever the flavour of the stir fry is. I just got back fromt he gym all sweaty so I guess something was happening. Jan

Thanks for the info Jan!

My husband says that he hopes that more people will give up meat so that the beef prices stay low. We love roast beef. Jan

I'm making pot roast right now...for everyone else, but for me...its tofu chili!

Hey all dropping in some love and to hug Marmie.

You are really tofu-ing it, Girlie.

What do you think of the stuff? It isn't too bad, is it?

I may try it again, too. I like the firm stuff.

I had bought some green tea last week when I went grocery shopping and just remembered that I had it today...:sigh: That's supposed to be good in helping lose weight, too.

I've never heard of Bisto Gravy. I wonder if they even sell it here in the states?

Its ok. I used the firm to make the chili. I LOVE green tea! I drink it every day!

Bisto is a gravy thickener that is available also in Canada. I don't think it is in the states as when my inlaws lived there they would always take a few boxes back to the US when they visited us here in Canada.

I used to use it now just use beef boullion cubes or brown gravy mix. I maybe should buy it again and have in as a staple in my cupboard.

I never really liked the pure tofu stuff. Not even the dessert tofu but I used the soft stuff (non flavoured) in shakes for added protein. Some people crumble the medium stuff in like a scrambled egg mix or cut the firm in slivers and stir fry it. I bought some dried soy nuggets years ago and it is to be reconstituted with boiling water and then used in the recipe you choose. I made a sweet and sour boneles "pork" and my hubby did not know it wasn't pork. It is called So Soya but I am not sure if it is still available. Jan

Hope you are all well I am but tired. I passed on the trip to the gym tonight with hubby.
I had my email snagged somehow by spammers so had to get password all reset and stuff. I can't believe how many emails they sent out. It is crazy. Good lesson to always have a difficult to figure out password right? Jan

Using small and upper case letters, in your password
the odd UNDERSCORE or, including a figure or two

CAN HELP

examples:
nINe_19_TeeN
BUll_dozER
GReAT-full1
CHop_STix
vir_TUoso
1a2B3c_4D5E
123_zYx_54
2breAK_daNCe

all, easy enough to recall
BUT 'so-scrambled'
that it can take spammers many days/weeks to unwrap

they, usually.....trawl thru/ compare
a list they have programmed-in for comparison
iow: a logically-progressive list

illogically interrupting, a sequence of characters/figures
is sufficient to provide a STRONG password
