always a spot nearby for my sisters

OK - I know lattes, espressos, mochas - actually I know them too darn well, they're my big weakness. However - I have no clue what a machiatto is - help me here please.

(This past week I sure could've used your "broad and strong shoulders" -
'cause I wrecked my left-outer toe/foot (twice, off-ice ); so beyond
purple&blue,
it's too swollen for my Skating-boots, so miss :(
ing this morning's Ice-practice, I hobble around.

one cinnamon tea coming up
your comment about your foot and reminds me of my son - he was quite the hockey player in junior and senior high (could have played in the juniors but girls got in the way ;) ).

Anyhow - his feet always looked so awful because they wear their skates so tight - I don't think he ever complained about shoes being tight (even if they were 2 sizes too small)
Hi Edie :)
Yes as you well know, you must wear your skates *tight*, for your Boots is what stabilizes your ankles, and the rest of your body for Edges, Turns, Landings; and even just a simple Spiral. ~

Don't laugh now, but (given the fact that while still brain-injured ^_^ I first stepped on the ice) - it took me literally years, before I had broken my (3rd) boots in, and got to know What & How to lace my Figureskating boots up right. I used to spend like HALF  of each practice-session, relacing  - - - finally now I can do it Right, the 1st time, and in only a couple of minutes.
Imagine counting just this ... as no small accomplishment :D

After 2 little Hockey-heroes ^_^ Face-PLANTed  me, while learning my FXO's -
it took me years actually, before I willingly befriended some Adult hockey-players, practicing in one of my Skating-sessions. Well-behaved ;) they wouldn't dream of doing anything like that, to me again. Most likely, your own skillful & accomplished  son would not either.

Cheers! Annie

I was so thankful when Sam learned how to lace his own skates - my hands would hurt after pulling on the laces.

The lady who taught my kids skating lessons would replace the blades on her skates - but she's been wearing the same pair of boots for at least as long as I've known her (14 years now).

You watch ^_^ a TV-station??, called "American Idiot" that explains loads right there.
seriously tho, you don't really think that's entertainment, right?

How about using TV for further educations; like PBS's
http://www.sharpbrains.com/blog/2008/01/08/the-brain-fitness-program-dvd-michael-merzenich
The Brain Fitness Program is based on neuro-*plasticity*, the ability of the brain to change and adapt — even rewire, and regrow itself.

"CHANGE OR DIE. What if you were given that choice?
We're talking actual life and death now. Your own life and death.
What if a well-informed, trusted authority figure said you had to make difficult and enduring changes in the way you think, feel, and act? If you didn't, your time would end soon—a lot sooner than it had to. Could you change when change mattered most?"

Abigayle, do you agree that - in this your thread right here - each of us has opportunities for challenging, inspiring, and helping all of us to make dramatic transformations in any aspect of life—changes that are positive, attainable, and absolutely vital.

I'll leave you, with this quote "Is it really possible to alter how we think and feel- and in so doing change the structure and function of the brain? The answer is a resounding yes."

(PS: This is fascinating, not just to me & our family, also because I spent decades - championing Individuals (the medical-establishment wrote-off as "hopeless"). And finally now, with scientists re-visiting these issues, they are having to admit "ooops, our beliefs & dogma were wrong" -

We live in wonderful  Times. And THANKS for allowing me to share...
some more of JESUS' Good*News!

Love you :) Annie

Hi Edie ~
Sigh, when I mentioned my (3rd) boots, I didn't bother saying why -
My 1st. boots were way-too-big ^_^, & the second were way too small.
My current boots are still too big, but my Jr. coach thinks that because they are designed for students (at my level) they will yet serve me well, - thru to FS-3, iow Single-jumps.

My current blades are the cheapest I've had, and with more Edge-work, hence more frequent Sharpenings, they will wear down, and need replacements -
but at my snails-pace  of progression, we could be talking, in years ^_^

My hands only hurt, until I got the skill down better. Now, my hands never hurt at all on Lacing.

Since you're a Skater's mom, most likely you know ALL the skills terms  right? - Presently, I am learning my back-stroke, and then BXO's - because I have already Happily :) skated the Waltz-jump, (with a 1-hand assist, as I don't have my BOE's for Landing  yet). But I am going after them, for sure ...

THANKS for sharing  with me :) Annie

No Annie the show is called American Idol but the guy who waxed his chest on the show for a chance to be on it ...was an American Idiot.
I tried that link...was it one that was attached to your business site...I could look that up again...I thought the name sounded familiar...be sure to pass it on...I always want to expand my mind.
And thank you so much for giving us all this information...you will forgive me I tend to have a Disney brain, it takes me away from life's trials and tribulations.
But oh how I love everyone here...yes of course you too Annie...we are all God's children each made from a unique mold...be blessed. Abigayle.
