All I can say it's about time!
Yep, and now we'll have to put up with 6 weeks of .... rubbish advertising on and in every media outlet in the nation. I'll be away on holidays at the time, so we're going to see if we can vote before we go away, then it's over and done with......

Yeah don't worry about it Neenie, there will be plenty of time. But if it's going to be the type of party with friends/family hanging around into the evening (we tend to have those) then you might want to remind people to vote before they come, so they don't forget about it.

I'm sure glad the end is in sight :D

OK, now I feel better.

No it's not going to be an evening party (lol, well it depends on how dedicated you are)

It's also my SIL birthday, so possibly have to do something for her in the evening, so for ds we are planning on a party in the park early morning say around 10 - 11:30 (lol, I'm really mean I don't want to feed everyone more than fruit and birthday cake lol) he is wanting the whole class to come.

It's not his birthday until 28th November, but the following weekend is the weekend before the school holidays start and it's just getting too close to Christmas, so yeah the week before is better.

But anyway....... back on topic:

Yeah well I'm really bummed - that is the day I'm going to have my son's birthday party. Does anyone know if the voting can be done all day. I'm pretty sure it can be?
You can also pre vote the whole week before. So don't worry about your Party just vote before Saturday!

Now I am realy upset: selling this beautiful country for $ 15.- a week. Tonight he anounced Tax cuts again, because he knows people do everything for a little money. In the long run it will be 34 billions on tax cuts.
For this money we could get water in the Darling?Murray river system, we could have solar destilation plants the whole dessert - we are the world dryest country but with the most sunshine - we could have water for everybody. The farmers don't want the so called draught relieve - they love their land and want water not a little money.
In India, in Goa a 1 square meter solar destilation box, just a simple box with a glassplate on top and black inside, makes 12 to 15 litre of pure water a day. can you imagen our dessert from Alice Spring to Darwin, the Darling river would be flowing again. just one example.

Norbie what are you saying? The guys earning $100 000 a week obviously need there tax cuts...what would they do without them?

Seriously...I'm so disillusioned with this whole system, I'm only voting because I feel there's a chance my seat could swing quite a bit.

I'm a pensioner...haven't paid tax for years....so whom ever gets in, it won't affect us. But of course we still have to vote. I'm just soooooo glad we have a...MUTE button on the tv for all those nasty little electral ads that will be coming on every 5 minutes from now on.

lucky you, my big old tv still has a slidey thing for volume control, so my little toe will be getting lots of exercise when i'm curled up in bed late at night. ;) it already does enough work with all the channel changing, and now it's got to learn to move the volume control to turn off those ads and then make it loud enough for me to hear but not loud enough to disturb the other residents.

Oh yeah, hands up who was surprised about the tax cut announcement............ NOT!

I am so sick of Johnny giving back money we want him to actually spend on stuff the government is responsible for.

My bro has a fantastic t-shirt: "Don't blame me, I didn't vote for the lying rodent" ^_^

I agree.

So what's next a privatised health system (yes we have private health insurance but only because the public health system is up the put, believe me we would get rid of it tomorrow if the hospitals were better!)

I remember paying about 18% interest on my mortgage during Keatings day....that was no fun. I don't have private health cover and I've been in hospital several times and have never had a complaint....but I am pleased that now I own my modest little 3 x 1 home and my little (shopping trolley of a car) Getz.....we have a little nest egg in the bank but interest rises won't affect it much, there's not enough in there to get excited about. But I will do my duty when the time comes....and just hope that the working families of the country and those on modest or low salaries won't suffer too much.
God Bless Australia.
