Time to step to the plate Conservatives

Ok...Im going to sound somewhat liberal to a few of you by what Im about to say but here goes...

I'm not sure what the big deal is in letting people state their opinion. Is God not big enough to deal with that? Are we not big enough to deal with that? Why are we so threatened by someone else's opinion? Granted...like I stated in the poll thread...I would like the option to turn certain peoples siggys off while keeping those I like on...but who cares what they say? Why is it always us against them? I guess I've belonged to other forums who are, and always will be, far worse than this one. So what I've seen here is pretty tame in comparison.

Here's another thought to ponder...doesn't the Bible say we're not supposed to argue about these types of issues but rather show them love...
Romans 14

The Danger of Criticism

1 Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong. 2 For instance, one person believes it’s all right to eat anything. But another believer with a sensitive conscience will eat only vegetables. 3 Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them.

Now I know the issues we are talking about are different than this...but I don't think arguing like we have been about this is winning anyone over to Christ. Do you?

Figures. Now that #5 is in the lead, it's not a real election.

Farcical.

Hello nyj,
Do you think it would be possible to stop misrepresenting me here? The first two posts in the thread explain EVERYTHING. I didn't change the rules once #5 was in the lead. I also know for a fact that you KNOW that isn't true.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would stop questioning my integrity. Every single concern by every single poster has been addressed. I have done everything that I know how to make it as fair as possible. I have even asked two times if we should stop the poll and go back to wiki to figure out how to make the poll the most fair. In both cases, the overwhelming majority wanted to continue.

So, why are you doing this to me, brother? What do you have against me? Do you think that you should perhaps go to PM with me and tell me exactly why you are so vehemently and so aggressively attempting to undermine my reputation? Or you can do it publicly. I have nothing to hide. I would like a chance to work on whatever offense you seem to think that I have done to you or to this forum.

This has been pointed out before, but I'll do it again.

The overwhelming majority represents maybe, tops, 50 people or so who were involved in that WIKI from its conception. We're a site of, on a daily basis, over a 1000 regular posters. A lot of people were busy getting established in new forums, getting their congregational fora WIKI's in working order, and other business ... essentially recovering from the reforms. I bet the majority of the site wasn't even aware that this was going on.

So don't talk to me about "majorities", and especially not "overwhelming majorities" either. Maybe the people in that thread, but they represent a very small, and sometimes very loud set of CF members. Look at the WIKI's and you see just about every A type personality this site has on the rolls. That includes me.

The OP makes no mention of the exact foundation of the guidelines for the poll. It lists the options. The second post is "kinda sorta" specific. You don't define what would be considered a "clear consensus" in that 2nd post. Is it a 5% separation between the 1st and 2nd vote getters? Is it a 10% separation? 15%? 20%? Nevermind the fact that it's hard to get a "clear consensus" when you allow a multiple choice poll. It gives those who picked multiple options, a larger voice.

Add to this the fact that some options are predicated on Erwin coding, something which he hasn't been asked to even consider ... well, what's the use in having that option anyways?

And then later on in the thread, you admit to "winging it". Given the potential impact of this entire process, "winging it" is a Bad Idea.

Since you didn't properly define the process, even a 25% separation could leave open the possibility of people who hate option #5 screaming for a recount if it winds up winning. Which essentially disenfranchises a whole lot of people. Those people basically being the conservative element of this site. Or what is left of it.

In the thread, I applauded your zeal. I appreciate someone tackling the issue at all. But, it needs to mature, and not be rushed. Like I said, we're currently acting like a herd of turtles.

Regardless, your insinuation that I had a biased reason for shutting down the poll is beyond my understanding.

Have a good day.

Something is wrong, i voted on choice 5 while the poll was still open and i dont see my vote there now?????????

I have no idea, but the poll is now closed. We are back in wiki trying to elect a committee to come up with a better plan of action and insure the integrity of the next poll. Do you need a link to the wiki?
