Strange. That's the same year I moved here. I just turned 14 years old. I'be been in the Houston area for almost 30 years.

I'm from McKinney, in the Dallas Metroplex. I'm a Texan born and raised.

I have been in Texas about 5 years. I live in DFW area. I am originally from Indonesia. I like it here.

Lol, that was too funny. Okay, count me in. I am from Texas, yeehaw! My family actually goes back several generations. We've been here for 111 years actually. So, I have no idea what gen. Texan that makes me. If anyone knows feel free to speak up. I'd like to know myself. But I was born and raised here. I've never lived anywhere else and I don't want to. All of my family is here too. I live in the Dallas area.

Whereabouts? You can fit about 5 Irelands inside the borders of Texas... I've lived and traveled to most of them, so I'd be happy to provide any insight, heh.

If you want a really useful skill in Texas, you might start learning some Spanish. The (illegal) immigrant population from Mexico and Latin America is growing by the day. Depending on your field of work, it may be a valuable communication skill.

Ya'll is a word and it should always be used when referring to a group of people!
I am not sure what it's spanish equivalent is though, so when speaking to a spanish speaking group of people in Tx, just say Hola! Ya'll.

We seem to be at our normal level of rain here in the Houston area.... which is a lot compared to most of the country, but nothing overwhelming. I'm just happy when it rains but doesn't turn into a monsoon which causes half the city to float off.

ok I honestly thought I'd replied to this thread back when it started, but I guess that was another one

Anyway, I'm Virginia born and raised but have been in Texas almost 5 years... We're in Garland. My DH is Garland born & raised... I think we live about 10 mins from the house he grew up in. In fact, except for a year he spent in Louisiana for college, he's lived somewhere in Dallas his entire life.

DFW is cool, but Houston rules Just kidding, heh. My favorite is the wooded rural areas of deep east Texas... what's left of them.
