Testimony

Well, to tell you the truth I don’t have that much of an elaborate life. I never jumped through laser beams while selling drugs to eight year olds or drank seven bottles of vodka while on a motor bike. To sum up a few less noticeable evils of my life: I never paid attention to the priest in Sunday school:eek: and only went to Church during my pre-teen years. So all in all, I have had and still do have problems with sin, just like everyone else.

The sweeping thing about my life though was definitely the steadfastness of a certain ominous and bewildering presence that has followed me to my dreams and the darkest corners of my night that we call God. He had almost literally thrown himself upon me since a very young age, and so I called upon his name. Thirty years later I have been very strongly compelled to learn more about this mysterious creature, the Judeo-Christian God. And so these past few years I have been studying the Bible in the comfort of my own closet very diligently. I’ve also been a little more liberal toward Church and Christians. Before I thought the whole Christian thing was weird and stupid, but now it seams so logical and true and just so… the much moreness I can’t exactly describe… that essence just seams so much more real and alive to me, if you know what I am talking about at all your heart inside of you will be jumping for joy.

And I feel a very strong desire in me to first read the Bible before I take on our fathers and saints writings. Also, because I am a staunch logician, I don’t take “inconsistencies” lightly. As soon as I find one I don’t rub it off, I write it down:D … and try and see if the detach bit of information is formerly resolved. That way I don’t end up looking like a complete idiot *makes a funny face and laughs:p (
My take on truth is that latter revelation must be consistent with former and foundational revelation in order for it to be “truth”. If I cannot find any consistency, then according to reason and logic and truth and life I will reject the latter revelation. The latter must agree with the former revelation if I am to embrace the latter revelation. This is the attitude I will take during my further studies of things) I guess it is also the vast magnitude of Roman Catholic literature that has put me off from reading anything Christian at all. But I am reading the Bible intensely, and will be getting onto our Fathers and saints in no time. I will get to find what they are all about, but not too much, as I need to read the foundational stuff first. I also am trying to get hold of the earliest Roman Catholic Catechism or whatever… lol. You see. I don’t even know what to call the stuff. So the Lord has opened me up to a world of infinite opportunity and I am more than willing to learn and teach and share and be with those of my brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Thanks for reading my rather short testimony. Hope to get into some thoughtful and enlightening discussion.

Welcome Maxine!

Don't worry about not knowing what to call stuff, life, especially our walk with God, is all about a constant increase in our understanding of things. OBOB is perhaps the greatest resource on earth for the Catholic Church. ;) So many wonderful brothers and sisters here, and you are now one of them.

You have a great testimony and will fit in nicely. And congratulations on the baby!!!!

With love,
Simon

Welcome from me too. I was a bit confused by the intro about how you go through your logic, but that is cool.

Ine of the the big secrets is to use your logic, but let the Holy Ghost guide it and interpret things for you through it.

Understand also that the church gives us many toos to guide us and to use in our lives. Scripture is just one. You have to logically combine it with the others such as the Traditions of the faith and the liturgy, and the teachings of the church fore-fathers and saints. With these you can have a strong foundation in life.

Oh yeah, and in the 2007, you have......us at your disposal!

Welcome Sister to OBOB  It's great to have you here. OBOB has been an amazing blessing in my life as I "converted" to Catholicism (I've been a dedicated Christian since 1997) in 2005. It's helped me answer alot of my questions and I love having the chance to fellowship with other Catholics. I hope this part of CF will be a blessing to you as well. Thank you for sharing your testimony too and may the Lord bless your pregnancy with your sweet baby.
