Ley lines

I can't find reference to this anywhere in the Bible, but in the past year I have come accross 2 Christian ministries who specialise in finding ley lines and pray over them to break the power of evil.
When I google it, it throws up lots of vile new-age stuff.
These ministries are taken seriously by some pastors, but I'm really quite bothered by it.
I've read many times on these forums that Satan will take something and make a counterfiet, but if that is so, and leylines aren't real, what could it possibly be counterfeiting?

Upon reading the OP my first thought was the Seven sons of Sceva (Acts 19).

I am a firm believer in spiritual warfare. I believe it is part of the ministry of the kingdom of God and that we are called and equipped for it.

However, to some, it is a full time affair. They have forgotten that we are 1st and foremost to be about the spreading of the gospel and making disciples.

When we start to focus more on the devil then the gospel we have forgotten that.

If you spend all your time looking for demons to cast out or curses to break the devil will provide you with and endless supply. You can run them out, and he can run them back in.

It is entertaining work.

Jeom, now I not know how Christianity is being run in the grand USA but in Europe we not to do a full time affair. This would be very bad. This would not be acceptable behaviour. You must not the devil to focus on.

Someone in my village had a full time affair once. He could not to work go because of the affair. Too much time to there he took.and could not to work go.

Affairs would be acceptable, but not full time. You have other things to do.

Ley lines are used as part of the conduit in divination and occult practices. It is a bad thing according to the bible:

Leviticus 19:26 NIV
'Do not practice divination or sorcery'.

As for ministries who 'break' ley lines, I dont know

We have been called to preach the gospel and heal the sick, I dont see what practical benefit 'breaking ley lines' can do

Be aware of what occultists do but do not be obsessed by them.

You must not the ley lines to break. When you have an affair, ley lines are important. They are the places that must be you go to when you have your affair. You can only ley within the lines that there are. If you break the line that is and outside the line ley, then you will be caught.

Affairs are not good if caught you are having been.

Last summer there were some people praying over some of the ley lines and this year they are coming back to finish off.
Has any one ever come across christians doing this? All Sensible answers appreciated thank you!

I have never heard of ley lines. I know that people pray over objects and annoint places, but I don't know of finding a place of spiritual significance and then praying over it.

Ok I just googled Ley lines and I remember seeing a documentary on this before.

But I have never heard of Christian pastors seeking ley lines.
It sounds like divination.

I had never heard of Ley Lines until you said something. It never ceases to astound me the various ways the enemy will use to try and destroy the children of God. Good thing we know who wins this battle in the end.

Only people I ever heard of dowsing for ley lines were Spiritualists. My best friend and neighbour bought into their rubbish and from that moment on she had nothing but trouble - then she got a melanoma and died. Were the two connected? Well, who can say?

I think the enemy sometimes trys to make things seem complicated when they're really not.
If you'll follow, he'll lead you on a complicated little dance that draws attention away from Jesus.
Maybe there is something in it, maybe there isn't. Do we really need to know where all the 'ley lines' are? I doubt it.
All you need to do is obey God and He will take care of everything else.

Yes, it does sound like a case of smoke & mirrors from what others are saying here. Have nothing more to add. The term & practice was news to me.

*my dad had our well witched I remember it well. Every few years the pump motor would burn out.

We had some strange activity around the land come to think of it. & most of it stopped when the well was prayed over. It's been years now since the well pump motor has needed to be replaced. Who really knows what that practice unleashes...

I think praying over ley lines is probably a huge waste of time.

The idea that ley lines have some magical or occult significance is a recent invention (not going back more than about 70 years).

All ley lines are is the random fact that ancients sites and monuments in some areas can be seen to be aligned along straight lines. The original discoverer of this alignment thought they were possibly ancient trade routes or path ways.

Later on spiritualists siezed upon the idea and theorized that these lines were lines of magical power. Some have also suggested that they might follow underground rivers etc, or some kind of geo-magnetic field.

The idea that they have some magical power is basicly just the wishful thinking of spiritualists and new agers.

Going out and praying for these things would be something like me going out and praying over a path because a couple of neighborhood kids find it spooky and therefore think its haunted.

But what if the neighbours were christians whose discernment you trusted? If they thought the path was creepy would you pray over it?

Not at all. I don't care if satan himself is living on the path. He is a defeated foe. I just walk past singing in the spirit and praising the Lord.

How powerful do some people think the devil actually is?

It appears similar to spiritual mapping principles --people praying over strongholds of certain cities.

The ley lines would attract people interested in them, and then activity would increase... so even if there wasn't evil power originally involved, it became a social magnet for occult activity. Sort of like what happened to Salem.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong in what they're doing, but it can so easily become a distraction from caring for people and doing what Jesus actually told us to do -- reiterate vanilla's post:

Look out for legalism, fear, obsession, condecension, heirarchies... and encourage those involved in it to be grounded, take care of their families, and continue to stand behind the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm sure they think they already are.... but going for "higher goals."

I have seen powerful things happen through prayer, but I have also seen people so wrapped up in spiritual mapping that they complicate and add to the truth.

I haven't done much studying on leylines, but I feel like that when the fallen angels were on earth (gen 6:4), (which happened before and after the flood, by the way), they not only introduced occult, witchcraft, etc to people, but they made certain places places of 'occult power', such as stonehenge, etc and they mapped these places to corelate to the stars, etc(and even were on mars and made the cydonian face, buildings, etc on mars), etc. It's really creepy. Then also, places on the 33 paralell is real important in occult and illuminati circles.
