Pro-family advocates are applauding a recent ruling by the Michigan Court of Appeals which banned public universities and state and local governments from providing health insurance to partners of homosexual employees.

And this is what George Orwell meant when he coined the phrase ‘double-speak’ way back in 1948. the advocates in question are is only “pro” family in so far as the family in question conforms to their demands. When dealing with families that differ from their limited view they become very anti-family.


Personally I am stumped trying of figure out just how justifying discrimination is a victory for anyone except those who choose to hate people who are different?

It is good and pleases God when we as a nation uphold His values. There is good and Godly discrimination, and God is all for it! This is a wonderful opportunity to discriminate FOR GOD and FOR HIS MARRIAGE IDEA.

Honestly, anyone who applauds this is a horrible, horrible human being who has no concept of love, fairness, freedom, or justice. It makes me sad that people are actively and willfully trying to make others unhappy and are actively and willfully discriminating against a group just because they think and believe differently.

That is un-American and wrong! Shame on every member of the religious right who hate their gay neighbors so much that they want to deny such simple rights as HEALTH INSURANCE to the partners of gay employees!

The "Pro-Family" crowd is the biggest joke in modern politics. If they were really pro-family, they would WANT gay people to adopt children. They instead claim to be "looking out" for us children of homosexual parents by wanting us to be removed from the custody of our loving families and placed in government-funded group homes. There are MILLIONS of children all over the world who need a home and a family. By disallowing gays to adopt, they screw the family over and ruin these innocent kids' lives. They are not "Pro-family," they are Pro-Self-Serving Prejudiced Hate.

I think a good idea for a sociological experiment might be to demand that religious fundamentalists may not adopt or marry, and then we'll see how long it takes them to shriek "PERSECUTION!"

We don't need to do that, they already shout "persecution." If the government doesn't specifically endorse their religion, they say they're being persecuted against. If businesses don't specifically endorse their religion, they say they're being persecuted. They feel everyone should believe exactly the same thing as them, and if laws aren't passed to protect their personal beliefs, then they're being persecuted.

As a Christian, these people make me sick. They think the freedom of religion only extends to them, and only those who think like they do. They're un-American and un-Christian.

its important to remember that the majority of christians are good people, who do not share the same perverted beliefs as "LovesTruth". He represents a very very small minority(like Fred Phelps and other loonies) that have been losing their footing in American Society in the past few decades..thank God.

You'd be suprised, just taking a trip down to the rual south(In the United States is like going back to the 1950's in some areas, I mean those Southern Baptists(and other various fundalmentalist sects) have the same basic mentality as LovesTruth and it's pretty scary. Glad I live in Michigan, even though I'm disapointed with the governing body's decision. You are though generally right I know better to know that 90% of christians aren't like this and usually nice people.

"Traditional marriage?" No, just the most recent incarnation of marriage. For most of human history, marriage was arranged and sometimes forced. Rarely did people marry for love. The man then felt entitled to a mistress, and the wife just got squat. That's "traditional marriage" if anything is.
