Hi from Massachusetts, another state with a long Native name :D
I'm amazed at how many from Mississippi are on here, yet I scratch my head at the seeming lack of Louisianans on the site.

To those in the Gulfport/Biloxi area: how would your area be as a place to celebrate a wedding anniversary?
My wife and I just moved from one place to another within our Boston area town, with me a little disappointed God didn't open a door for us to move south. I looked forward to the idea of a week in the Gulfport/Biloxi area for our anniversary. Plymouth, MA is nice
for that but even on April 6, our anniversary date, it's still too cold.
Maybe someday....

Well, normally, it's a great place to visit, but since we're still up to our eyeballs in the rebuilding effort, it's not as ideal of a place. I say visit, but don't expect what the coast used to be. Casinos are open if you're into that sort of thing (I'm not, but many are). Parts of the beach are open for walks, though the scenery is pretty much shot right at the moment!! It's a great place to live, IMO, but maybe not the ideal vacation spot.... I don't know, let's see what everyone else has to say!

I second what Manna said. It's almost depressing driving down what used to be the Coast. Nothing but casinos and condos coming up now. No more antique looking homes starring out over Hwy90....just bare lots and condos now. I'm sure by April things will look more developed, but I'm picturing a place like Destin, Fl when it's all done. I wish there was a way to rebuild it like it was before, but I can understand folks fear of another storm wiping out everything they worked so hard to rebuild. So to answer your question Aaron....check back with us in a few months. If your anniversary was tomorrow...I'd go someplace else.

That is a perfect time of year here. Threr are still many things to do. Even though they are still rebuilding, it would still be fun. If you and your wife play golf, come check out the preserve golf club. Immaculant golf course.

I am new to this forum. I live in Tupelo.
Hey there I am from fairview.
Wow! That's only 50 miles from us. We love to shop there. Old Navy is my daughter's favorite place!
Where abouts are you? I am on the other side of Tupelo. going towards Belmont.

I'm originally from Bay St. Louis and I left the area 9 years ago. When Katrina hit I desired to return and help in the rebuilding process but I was in college at the time so I decided to finish and then, with degree in hand, return so that I could help both economically and physically. I have a job interview in Gulfport Easter week and was wondering, if I do get a job down there, where would be the best place to live. I have four children and I know that everything has to have changed so much. Any ideas would be welcomed!

I lived in Bay St. Louis for 16 years and left about 9 years ago. I'm now in North Carolina. When Katrina hit my heart broke especially when I saw the devastation that happened to the Bay/Waveland area. I had a desire to return and help in the rebuilding process but personal circumstances prevented me from doing so. I was in college at the time and had four children to support so I decided to stay where I was and get that degree and then return to the Gulf Coast and help both economically and physically. I have a job interview in Gulfport Easter week and was wondering where would be the best place to live if I am offered a position with that firm. Any advice would be welcomed!

I'm posting this for a friend of mine in Corinth: please add her to your prayer list.

*For those of you who know me in person I wanted to let you know that I now have a 3 year old living with me. My brother has been in jail since Aug and has a few years to serve. My ex sister in law has been really bad off into drugs and even OD back in Jan. This past thursday my ex sister in law called me to come and take the 3 year old and to take the 2 year old twins to my mom. When I got to Memphis Tn she had papers already at the courthouse to give me custody and my mom custody. She said that she couldn't handle the kids anymore and that she needed to get her life back straight. She is only 24. I have had the child now all this time and her mom hasn't called at all to check on her and the child hasn't asked about her mom. I was given everything that the child owns and that was a box of clothes and about 6 toys. I know that things is going to change alot for me but after what I seen the child living in and how the child was this (she was changing the twins diapers, taking care of them and even rolling so called cigs for her mother) is the best place for her. I also know it will take me some time but I told her today that I will get her a swing set an some new clothes and toys. She was happy and kept saying over and over this is mine today when I got her a new toy and a toothbrush. So please pray for me to be able to get everything this child needs and to show her how a kid is suppose to be.*
