Why is Fundamental Christians so down on Homosexuality?

Mike I never said we don't all struggle with sin but how many people have to change the one they love or give up loving entirely.....because gay is not about sex it is about feelings......so it is different because in some cases you are asking people to live their life alone.
And some choose celibacy for the rest of their life do you think that is an easy choice to make and yes I think it is harder than giving up gossiping or smoking or hating on people.

Nobody is talking about "giving up loving" and you know that.

I'm as heterosexual as they come. However, when I got saved, I still had to bring my sexuality into submission to Christ. I literally had to tell women, "I'm sorry, but I can't do that anymore. I got saved and I'm trying to honor Jesus in the way that I live my life".

Was it hard to tell all of these women "no"? Of course it was. But there were no excuses.

I had to decide either to repent, or to keep on living in sin.

Homosexuals are no different.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We have many ideas and thoughts in this thread and many people are hurting each other and arguing ...even if they do not see it.
I ask Dear Lord that you will open the hearts and minds of all that come to this thread and to CF forums and let them think before they speak...let them really listen to the still small voice in their ear and when they are totally sure that voice is Yours Lord let them minister in love and with compassion with mercy and tenderness.
Let them walk as Jesus did Lord knowing the sinners needed love and kindness to heal them of their sins and that those who thought themselves righteous but were proud arrogant and not humble needed Jesus to humble them by speaking in parables so they could not see because they were blind though they thought themselves righteous.
Father God let all who come here learn Your ways follow Your example and remember we were all sinners when we came to You and though we are saved it is by grace not by works and none of us are good no not one.
I ask for you to put Your Holy Spirit in this thread to watch over Your children and keep them protected from the lies of the devil and the deception of man.
Be with us Lord Jesus minister here in love.

From my viewpoint, ReligiousTolerance is just about as reliable of a source as anyone on this forum.

Afterall, unless it's directly from God and I know it, I assume it's all just Man's Wisdom. And Man's Wisdom is all the same, unreliable at best. If you couldn't tell, I was being sarcastic. Other's sin is none of our business. Our business is our own sin (and realizing it everyday, and repenting every single day, lest we become prideful self-righteous man's-wisdom bible-thumpers) and LOVING OTHERS. Treating them like human beings, and seeing no difference between a pastor and a homosexual couple. YOU KNOW WHY? BECAUSE THEY ARE BOTH EQUALLY SINNERS!!!

It is SICKENING how christians look at a pastor as someone "holy" while they look at homosexuals with hatred in their hearts. There's no difference between a pastor and a homosexual, no difference between a priest and a prostitute.

But do Christians condemn the pastor for using his own wisdom instead of God's wisdom? HECK NO! But Christians will be the first to point that homosexuals shouldn't be allowed to marry. Why? Not because God won't allow them to marry, because God allows everyone to do anything. God allows murder to happen, God allows people to lie, cheat, or steal. And even if homosexuality were a sin (I don't know if it is or not, and nor can I say because God never told me, nor is it any of my business because I myself am not gay.) God would still allow them to be married. Just like how God allows two people who are not meant for each other to marry. There's no laws stopping that.

The reason we have so many christians hating homosexuals but loving self-righteous pastors who use their own wisdom instead of God's, is because we have so many christians relying on Man's Christianity instead of God's Christianity. This sickens me. And I know it sickens God even more.

A Christian's business is to love everyone regardless of any sin, and to stay out of other people's business. Other's sin is God's business.

The Holy Spirit Convicts, NOT Mr.Bible Thumping Self-Righteous with a heart of hate towards homosexuals.

I'm not pointing fingers to anyone specific with this message, but here I say this as a warning to all:
Everyone can go ahead and praise self-righteousness pastors and see homosexuals are abominations, but regardless if homosexuality is a sin or not, God sees homosexuals just like he sees EVERYONE, his wonderful children whom he loves. And from what I know of God, he despises pride and self-righteous christians more than he does homosexuals. It is NOT the job of a christian to condemn, but to love. For a Christian to say judge someone based on homosexuality is for them to put themselves as God. We're not God, only God can judge. And it's NONE of our business to judge those outside of the church. Nor is it our business to judge sin. Don't put yourself on the same level of God. Pride is a foul stench in the nostrils of God.

If homosexuality is a sin, the Holy Spirit will naturally convict them of it. Man doesn't need to step in and do God's work for Him. He is completely capable of convicting sin by Himself, without the help of Mr.Self-righteous.

I agree with this post, and a lot of others. Very good posts peeps, and Charles -- great job. As a gentile Christian I too believe the law is circumcized into our hearts now through baptism of The Holy Spirit. (I still believe in both baptisms, but I'd say baptism of The Holy Spirit is the greatest baptism).

I have grown up eating pork, but one year I got so sick from the pork I nearly died. This is not a lie. I eat very little pork now because it makes me sick. I eat shellfish like maybe once a year. I had crab legs about two months ago, really tasted good, but hadn't had crab legs in about four years. So, it was just a treat. God had good reasons for not wanting us to eat certain foods.

Lobsters are now considered by science to be the coachroaches of the Ocean and crabs are like spiders. Ewwwwwwwwww! Also, pigs eat very bad things, this is one of the reasons I believe I get sick. Cows eat the cud as do sheep. I've studied nutrition and am a semi vegetarian, but this is why this "meat" is better for us.

However, I don't truly compare homosexual acts to eating crab legs once in a while -- every four years.

But back to this post above -- yes The Holy Spirit convicts us, but I had a lot of brothers and sisters in Christ praying for me and coaxing me out of the pit of hell in sin I was in.

I'm glad they didn't give up on me and leave me helpless down a well.

Ya know, we have to let The Holy Spirit convict, but are we, as Christians, going to walk by on the other side of the road when someone, anyone has fallen down a well?

Should we just leave them there, or help?

I mean when reading the Bible I can see people were/are so stupid, God had to tell us what to eat, and yet I see so few thanking God for everything.

This is what Christianity is about to me. Thanking God for everything and living to please him and accepting his gift of his sacrifice on the Cross -- but that doesn't mean sinning on purpose as though our grace will increase!

I didn't say it was different I am saying that their original love for the same sex never dissipates they might feel relieved of the sexual desire but the love for the same sex that wanting to be with the same sex as a companion it really does not change so they have a couple of choices live celibate just for God but not many choose this.....and it brings the most peace.....or get married and pray that the old feelings never come up.....and they do a lot ....or get married and be with someone but never really emotionally connect to the person they are with and still feel unfulfilled often.
When you stopped sleeping around you found a woman to love and enjoy intimately.
When they stop sharing with their partners they have to be reprogrammed and that is not always fulfilling.
Think of a 27 year old going straight for God and trying to find feelings that are not there think of the turmoil will I always feel this way and sometimes they do forcing themselves to be with the opposite sex.
All I am asking Mike is that you recognize this and have mercy and compassion.....is that doable...to see it through someone elses eyes not yours?

It's not that heterosexuals don't understand your point nor pain, and especially your point that homosexuals within Christianity are not to perform homosexual acts... so therefore they aren't to get married nor have a companion.

But saying it's hopeless still sounds like an alcohol saying he can never give up his drink, or a pediophile say he can never be sexually attracted to anything but children, or a person addicted to pornography can never overcome and that there "feelings" will always remain and torment them.

I disagree. I know people who have lived a happy life in Christ staying celibate. They aren't tormented by constant feelings of missing their same sex acts? They honestly aren't... they are happier.

Hey, I've been a celibate hetero, and I thought it would be really hard to do, but honestly it was not. Perhaps that makes me different? I did not find celibacy hard? A few times, but I remembered what I gained... I didn't want to lose Jesus Christ. He comes first in everything.

I became chaste, and now I am engaged. My fiance' and I have temptations, but we don't act upon them, and we are still very happy being a celibate, engaged couple.

We overcame, and I would still he his wife even if he ended up in a wheelchair and could never have sex. I wouldn't leave my husband because he couldn't have sex with me, nor would he me if I became disabled.

So why not have a celibate friendship/partnership with some girlfriends and be close friends, but don't engage in sex acts with them? Why do you have to lose the good parts -- the friendship, Gabby? Why not focus on the positive Christ has given you and have good female friends?

As a women I get along with men better for some reason? And this involves friendship, too. I love my female blood sisters and other friends, but for some reason, I've always enjoyed talking to men more? So, why not focus on the friendship you enjoy of the same sex?

And as far as preferring men as friends, I'm talking about my immediate environment, my real world. This is a virtual world. I get along great with both men and women posters equally here. However, I prefer male companionship without sex -- it's called platonic. What is wrong with platonic? Why not focus on that -- good platonic relationships that you enjoy?

I am celibate though and I love the freedom of that.
I was making a point about homosexuals my friends have given up the sex and desire did dissipate but they do not stop loving and that was my point.
