From what you have heard of his radio presentations, do you have the impression that David Jeremiah is opposed to the distinct beliefs of Charismatic Christians?

Some Baptists I know like him. I have the impression that he doesn't like two kinds of Christians, and I'm both of them, so I normally turn the knob when I hear him.

Why don’t you write him and ask. Not too many mainline pastors I know are anti-Charismatic these days (at least not vocally). That would make them against a large portion of their congregation. You can probably find out at info@TurningPointOnline.org.

David Jeremiah is a very solidly scripturally based teacher along the lines of most Calvary Chapel pastors. I have a great deal of respect for him.

However, he does have his problems in this area, and I know to take the fantastically prepared steak, and leave the bone alone.

He is an astoundingly anointed brother in Christ. :)

Sounds like Chuck Missler to me...

Calvary Chapel.
Anointed teacher.
Couple of problems with the charismatics.

Blessings,

Chuck might have a couple more problems than that, but I received some astounding revelations from him in the early Ninties. ;) :D :D

I believe he is opposed to the beliefs of Charismatic Christians, however, he has some very good teachings. You just have to throw out the parts you don't agree with.

I heard about a preacher that didn't agree with the doctrine of another preacher. The first preacher decided to listen to the second anyway. He said that by listening, God answered a question that he had had for a long time. If he had tuned him out, he would not have received his answer.

He is a very good bible teacher on the radio. His broadcasts are good, without him trying to be flashy and "charismatic". Oops sorry for the use of that word, but you get my point. It's how a teacher handles the bible not what he claims what is or is not his gift.

I don't know his religious affiliation. But wouldn't he fall in the same group as Charles Stanley in that he is not overtly pentecostal? I think CS is Baptist.

I have been listening to a Baptist preacher - 2 weeks ago he preached a wonderful sermon on getting rid of all the legalism that we had been taught.

I was very impressed because I was raised with a lot of legalism and of course, my husband being Catholic that is a lot of legalism also - but the sermon he preached really set me free of this legalism and I was so excited.

I even bought 5 tapes to send to my children as an apology for bring a lot of legalism into their lives.

Then last Sunday - I listened to him again and he talked like he is not spirit filled and told of how he tried to speak in tongues. Said a couple tried to get him to speak in tongues by saying la la la la la and then God would take over - he said nothing happened and you have to guard against feelings because they lie to you - stating that the infilling of the Holy Spirit is a feeling and no more.

Now I don't have faith in what he says at all, so I don't feel led to listen to him anymore. Maybe I was just suppose to hear that one sermon on legalism and no more because that is the way it seems to be working out.

It does do something to your faith to hear someone not teach the teaching on the Holy Spirit.

I don't know about Pastor Jeremiah if he is Spirit Filled or not - I've read a couple of his books and learned a lot from them.

This is a really good question and makes one stop and think about what we are being fed.

Thanks for asking.
