Our pastor does his sermon in "series" that revolve around a common theme. The current theme is "My life in 2013-Living a Better Story."
At the outset he asks us to ask ourselves, "Are you living an unauthorized version of your life story?"
God's script is a story of victory.
Part of the Christian walk is to struggle to stop writing our own story.
We have a tendency to disqualify ourselves from the story God is writing for us because we don't think we are good enough for the part that God has written for us. Like Moses who stuttered or Jeremiah who thought he was "a child" we have our reasons why we don't think God has chosen rightly in our calling.
Part of the reason for this is we are branded by the things that others say about us.
Another reason is that we are "ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." There are endless "auditions." But the bible tells us that God knew us in the womb, that we were chosen before we were ever born for a part in His plan.
But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.
9 Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
