You Are God’s Greatest Creation

Why are most people fascinated with nature? What is it that’s so amazing? It’s just a bunch of rocks, trees, and water randomly placed. Regardless, many of us love to look. We can sit and stare at a national park landscape for a long time without being bored or losing the sense of awe that caught our gaze. I don’t think it’s a giant leap to suggest God designed his creation to connect with us in this way. Indeed, the Bible tells us we are essentially part of the same foundational substance as the natural landscape that catches our attention.

“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” Genesis 2:7 (NIV)

Yes, we are all God’s creation. I don’t know about you, but I don’t get the same since of awe when I look in the mirror that I get from looking at Yosemite Valley. Yet I have to conclude that God made me exactly the way he wanted to make me. I have to conclude God’s work to be perfect. God can make nothing less than perfect. We are therefore all grand creations equal to our favorite natural landscape. Just like all the rocks, trees, and bodies of water cobbled together to form an amazing view, I was cobbled together to form God’s perfect version of me.

“This is what God the Lord says — the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it.” Isaiah 42:5 (NIV)

Our imperfections are by design. There is purpose to every aspect of who we are. God does not make mistakes. Every one of us is, without question, God’s greatest creation. We each fit together in the awesome landscape of our total existence. Like the stars in the night sky, we are perfectly placed and perfectly designed. God knows precisely what he is doing and we should all be profoundly grateful to be a part of his amazing creation.
