The great commission according to Jesus, is to spread the Gospel of the Kingdom. We have heard many variations since.
Matthew 24: 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Mark 16: 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mark 1: 14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Jesus also gave us 2 commandments
Matthew 22:
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
So we have: spread the Gospel of the Kingdom, love God (doing His will and not our own) and loving neighbour as self.
From the time Christianity re-aligned itself with the world of man, how much of the above has the church concentrated on, rather than heading down rabbit trails or teaching how to build a church and not the Kingdom? Thank God for scriptures that still give us His truth and not man's. Remember what Jesus told Peter about what His church would be built upon, God's truth... not man's.
