“By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; by his knowledge the watery depths were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew.” Proverbs 3:19-20 (NIV)
The ingredients for all that God has created are wisdom, understanding, and knowledge. Obviously, God has an infinite supply of all three and we will never come close to his capacity; however he is ready and willing to supply us with a good measure.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10 (NIV)
The Word of God is the fueling station for wisdom, understanding, and knowledge. Every utterance recorded from the mouth of God contains a healthy dose of all three.
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6 (NIV)
Those who take the time to dig into the Word of God in search of everything God has to offer, are demonstrating the wisdom that leads to understanding and knowledge.
“The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.” Proverbs 18:15 (NIV)
The Bible includes all the necessary ingredients for all of us to reach our maximum capacity of wisdom, understanding, and knowledge; but only when we apply what we’ve learned in our daily life. God’s instructions only reach full maturity when placed into service through loving interaction with those we encounter as we travel through this world. The Word of God comes alive when we take the time to make that wisdom, understanding, and knowledge a central part of our life.
