Why Did God Give The Law & The Prophets?

Why did God give the law and the prophets?...

The Lord was pleased for His righteousness’ sake To make the law great and glorious. Isaiah 42:21 NASB…

... “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field.

Matthew 13:24 NASB…

...For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:‬9‭-‬11 NASB

...Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance. Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live...

Isaiah 55:2‭-‬3

Did Jesus fulfill the law and the prophets?

What did he tell us about the law and the prophets? What was his message to us?

“Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. “For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees (said to be strict law keepers but known as hypocrites), you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:17‭-‬20 NASB…

In other words, Jesus did fulfill the law and the prophets and told us that if we do the same (follow his example and not be like the scribes and pharisees), we shall enter the kingdom of heaven.

…...“These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in [my] name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

Luke 24:44‭, ‬47 NASB

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have set your hope. For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”John 5:39‭, ‬45‭-‬47 NASB...

If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself. “Did not Moses give you the Law, and yet none of you carries out the Law? Why do you seek to kill Me?”

John 7:17‭, ‬19 NASB…
