The power of the enemy lies in the power of deception. When Satan made his first appearance in the garden of Eden, he played his ultimate card: the power of deception. That was what we saw of the enemy in the first three chapters of Genesis and it was enough to change the course of humanity. " Hath God said?" that was all Satan needed to turn the plot against Eve and consequently Adam. The dominion mandate given to man was lost on the altar of deception!
Whilst in heaven and in his rebellion against God it was deception Lucifer used to turn one-third of the angels against God! These are creatures who virtually see, breathe, live, and bask in the glory of God always. Some of them worship before the very throne of heaven and yet they fell for the wiles of the enemy!
Revelations 12:7-9 the Bible tells us, And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him
That's what the enemy does and it is why the Apostle Paul in preparing us for spiritual warfare asked us to put on the whole armor of God against the power of the devil! Is that what the word says? Let's read in Ephesians 6:11
Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil
More than watching out for the power of the enemy we are to watch out for the wiles of the enemy, for in the wiles of the enemy lies the power of the enemy! In other words, our spiritual armory is to fight the wiles of the enemy and not the power of the enemy!
The wiles of the enemy weaken the spiritual truth we have been given in order to gain spiritual territories in our lives! How do I put it, the power of the enemy can not be manifested until the wiles of the enemy have gained in routes into our lives by weakening the spiritual truths we have been given!
As believers and children of the light, truth is what gives us power, truth is what ensures our liberty, truth is what guarantees our dominion, as long as we abide in the truth we are impervious to the attack of the enemy. And so this is what the enemy does, he sent his wiles, unleashed his deception to the weak all-powerful dual-position by weakening or casting doubts on the spiritual truth we have been given in that area. And so the question comes up, "Hath God said?', and once we start doubting what God has said we begin to weaken our stand, position, and power in God!
Whatsoever is not of faith is sin the Bible says. A double-minded man, the Bible says is unstable in all his ways! When you doubt the truth of God's word your spiritual position becomes unstable in God, once the enemy detects this instability he rushes in with full force and many times, takes over the remaining territory. This was how the first Adam lo, st the dominion of the world, deception was sent to undermine the stability of the truth given, and once that was done man's dominion was lost!
The purpose of deception is the erosion of God's revelation, the degradation of heaven's instruction for the purpose of man's destruction! Once the truth can be destroyed the people can be enslaved! This is the goal, always the goal of the enemy! The power of the gospel is in the power of the truth! The power of the church is the power of truth. Paul the Apostle wrote
In 1 Timothy 3:15, But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth
Once the pillars are weakened the church will crumble.
The approach the church hathe s always taken in spiritual warfare is to fight after the enemy has already gained ground through deception, and in the process weakening our position! We fight the power of the enemy after we have slept for along watching and allowing the wiles of the enemy to gain ground. After the enemies wiles gain ground, which is not always obvious, then his power begins to rush on us and it's at this point that we are now awake ready to do spiritual warfare!
According to Ephesians 6:11 spiritual warfare is by staying alert to detect the wiles of the enemy before they grow and snuffing the light out of them! Spiritual warfare is primarily spiritual sensitivity to the wiles of the enemy! It is the spiritual detection of the enemy lies that portends to weaken the spiritual truths we have been given and hence our spiritual position in God! This is why Paul further re-iterated in 2 Corinthians 10:4,
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ
Spiritual warfare is casting down deceptions of the enemy that sets up itself against the revelations of God in our lives! It is not fighting sickness after it has taken hold of the body it is fighting those satanic wiles that tell us though Matthew 8:17 says he took our infirmities but am not sure covid 19 was among them. It's casting down those devilish thoughts that say you are human and that you can also catch the coronavirus. That's the wiles your battle. But we don't battle this, we allow it take hold, then when corona now takes hold of the body we will either said, "yes I said so that Matthew 8:17 doesn't cover virus, there was no virus in Jesus days". It's only the one that is partially awake as a believer that will now rise up and start binding the covid 19 with all spiritual weapons available. However, if the believer has been awakening he would have known the spiritual warfare started when the enemy begins to question the validity of God's word!
But alas sometimes we have a sleeping church, sometimes we have sleeping believers and like Samson, we don't wake up on time until the enemy has fallen upon us!
Look into the world around you today, we are in a web of deception. The pandemic of covid 19 that has engulfed the world is all covered in deception and conspiracies of mind-boggling proportion. Long before the details begin to emerge the Spirit has impressed upon my heart certain spiritual warfare against the church. All of a sudden with covid 19 some of the sacred spiritual truths we hold dear are even been questioned among the clergy! Covid 19 is making many question the very tenets and basic foundation of our faith! When you can not open your church for the fear of viruses how can you preach faith to the people? Some say it is wisdom, no, it is the fear of the devil and the fear of men! For the Bible already told us not to FEAR WHAT THE PEOPLE FEAR!
Isaiah 8:11-13 tell us, _For the Lord spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this person shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear nor be afraid. Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself, and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread_
Once the word of God has spoken every other opinion is noise making.
