What's Special About The New Year(3)

In the last two installments of this series, we have examined how both personal responsibility and an understanding of Gods prophetic agenda for each year helps to shape our lives. To further this understanding we look at the significance of tines and seasons, how God doesn't live within time but still works with time. For at the set time that God has purposed, He visited Sarah(Genesis 21:1). Every delayed blessing is for an appointed season. At Sarah's appointed time, Gods visitation brought life! Someone is coming to their appointed season. If you didn't read the first two installments you may want to go back and do that.

Like I did in the last installment I will love to quote from the previous installment of this series.
"The calendar has changed, things may still look the same, but coming on the horizon is an agenda of God for this time that will be made known to the discerning heart, and the discerning heart will be the one in command!"

Spiritual discernment enhances our spiritual positioning and how well we are positioned in God's agenda determines how much of it we see comes to pass during our days. Now we will come back this thought in the future installment of this series. What I want to look at in this installment today is how God work from year to year. For when we talk about time, it is not specific. The word time may refer to now, or two weeks or two years or two hundred years. But when we talk of year we are specifically talking about 12 calendar months or 365 days! Does God have a yearly agenda?

First scripture that comes to my mind is Psalm 65:11, we probably know this: 'Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness'
God has his goodness reserved for us every year. So it is not out of place if we expect great blessings from the Lord every year. Now, this is the thought here, for 2018, for the coming 12 calendar months God has reserved goodness and fatness for everyone! Put in another way God has yearly blessings reserved. Just like he has daily blessings reserved. For Jesus said each time we pray we should ask: 'give us this day our daily bread'. And the Psalmist said in Psalm 23:6, 'surely goodness and mercies shall follow me ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE'. So as we have daily blessings we also have yearly blessings. As we have daily bread so also we have 'yearly bread'. Something great is ahead of you this year.

For every new year, God has a set agenda and a set blessings. In Genesis 17:21 he said, "But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year. And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham". There are things that God has set ahead of us!

Exodus 23:29 is another scripture that reveals how God works from year to year.
"I will not drive them out from before thee in ONE YEAR; lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee. By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land". Here in this scripture, God was implying it will take Him more than a year to implement his plans!

Now let's read another closely related scripture and I will do a summation. Leviticus 25:21, 'Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years'. What an awesome promise of blessings from the lord, in other words, God is saying 'I will activate certain blessings in your life this year that you will continue to reap the fruits three years from now'! That is what God will do for some people reading this; some will last three years, five years, seven years, and even more! Amen. Certain blessings are activated in our lives that will take many years for them to come into their fullness and bring forth their full fruits! Hallelujah.

Here is the thought then, God may take a period of time to bring us into the full fulfillment of His plans and purpose for our lives! This is where the process of time comes in and He sometimes does this in order to develop in us capacity for the new place He is bringing us into. This is why He said he won't drive out all the enemies of Israel lest the land become desolate. The children of Israel as one nation cannot occupy all the nations at once, their numbers couldn't fill up the places available, so little by little God brings them into these lands as their numbers increases!

What does all the above tell us about God and His yearly dealings with us as His people. Two things to note based on our understanding of the scriptures above.

•Every new year connotes in itself the beginning of new blessings. It connotes the unfolding of new agenda in Gods plan. When one year ends, there are certain agenda of God that ends with that year and as a new one begins Gods new plans and blessings are unfolded.

•Secondly, there are some of Gods blessings and agenda that overlap from one year to the other. There are many of us that are just at the beginning of something new that God is doing or in the middle or about coming to the end of what God has started years back!

Whichever you look at it every new year brings a progression in Gods plan and purpose for our lives and in the fulfillment of his agenda on the earth for mankind!

There are many of you now going through the process of a seven-year plan, a ten-year plan or a twenty years plan! Right now you are either at the beginning of a plan, the middle or the end. One thing is sure though God has a plan for you this year!
