Heard someone talk about the
3 kinds of pleasers in life:
self-pleaser,
man-pleaser,
God-pleaser.
A self pleaser is one who is self focused at all times. Self absorbtion and self indulgence are the characteristics, with little or no concern for anyone else in their daily routines of dealing with ppl on this earth. These are the road ragers who will flip someone off for almost anything that affects them (after all, they are #1 and more important than anyone else!) and think nothing of being rude or alienating strangers who they will never see again.
The man pleaser is most concerned with being accepted by ppl and doing what it takes to make ppl like them. They are usually very insecure and need others to validate them as being important members of society. They tend to be more social than the self-pleaser, who makes a good yuppie---what can YOU do for me. But the man pleaser waters themselves down and succumbs to peer pressure more easily (teenagers fall into this trap) so that they lose their identity as a unique individual.
Then there is the God pleaser, that's my target in life! It shud be pretty obvious to those on this forum who say I wouldnt win a popularity' contest, which I consider validation of my intentions. I could care less what man thinks of me (NOT a man pleaser!) if I'm out following the Words of Christ!
Again, the admonishment of Jesus Christ to His disciples was "the world will hate you because it hated me first." And, my focus is not 100% on self (NOT a self pleaser) since I share what I know about the Word and try to following His leading. Being a God pleaser is what the scriptures call 'dying to self' and is something that the believer must do daily!! Because, our stinking flesh wants to be pampered and normal human desires can be perverted/fed and turned into lust.
So ask yourself that question...what kind of pleaser am I??
And, then be prepared to live (or die) with that answer---or, make a change in your life and priorities.
