Understanding The Word: Parable Of The Sower

In every parable of scriptures are packages of wisdom. Jesus spoke to this end in Mark 4:11 when he told his disciples, "And he said unto them, Unto you, it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables".

Parables are meant to conceal the wisdom of God that only the understanding heart can unravel. Deuteronomy 29:29 tells us, "The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law". In other words, whatever is concealed belongs to God and whatever is revealed belongs to men and through the power of revelation we are able to walk in the laws of the lord. God conceals his mysteries so that we can grow by the process of searching for them. These mysteries are concealed so that we can find them, they are hidden to be revealed.

Proverbs 25:2 throws more light on this, "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter". There is honor in searching out that which is concealed. Revelation brings honor! This is the honor that God wants to become ours as we search out the mysteries of his word! This was the intent of the masters in using parables to speak and teach.

In one of the most popular parables of scriptures, Jesus spoke on the power of understanding the word. The parable of the sower has always been a fascinating one to me while growing up and it is about the most important parable of the scripture because in another place where this parable of sower was narrated, Mark 4:13, Jesus asked the disciples if you don't know this parable how will you know other parables? This parable is the master parable!

Clearly, when you read Matthew 13 you will see that it is understanding that grants us access to the treasures in the word. Three verses I will pick from this passage, verse 18-21 Which shows us that without understanding the word does not take root in our heart! And whatever is not rooted downward cannot bear fruit upward(2Kings 19:30) We must have roots in the word in other to bear fruits in life and It is understanding that gets the word rooted in our heart!

And then in verse 23, the master makes us understand further, the depth of every man's understanding determines their level of results. According to the master, results vary according to the level of understanding, some brought forth 30, 60, and some 100! This tells us that we may hear the same word and not produce the same level of result, what determines each one level of spiritual productivity is their depth of understanding! Our depths in the word determines our levels in the world! And depth in the word is determined by understanding. The more we understand the word the deeper we understand God and the more we know God the more of his power we experience in our lives!

WHEN OUR UNDERSTANDING IS DEEP OUR RESULT WILL BE GREAT!

This new month will bring greater results our way all on the platform of renewed and deeper understanding of the word! Amen!

HAPPY NEW MONTH
