"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39 NKJV)
Persuasion will come when someone is convinced about a particular concept or idea. The apostle Paul was convinced that nothing will be able to separate him and others from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. The question is who or what brings conviction in the heart about a concept? For us as Christians, we have the person of the Holy Spirit to grant us conviction about several concepts of our faith.
The Holy Spirit will make it clear to us beyond any reasonable doubt that these concepts are true for us. For instance, how do we know whether we belong to God or not?
"The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God," (Romans 8:16 NKJV)
It is His work to communicate with our spirits that we are children of God. We will wallow in darkness and confusion without the help of the Holy Spirit.
Therefore our persuasion about God's love is not from mental accent or repetitive confessions. It is as a result of the indwelling and the outworking of the power of God through the help of the Holy Spirit. He does this effectively through the word of God. As Christians, studying God's word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit is indispensable for us. This will enable us to be well-grounded in God.
ACTION PLAN: Stop building your convictions around people and their opinions. Allow the Holy Spirit to persuade and establish you in God.
PRAYER: Holy Spirit of the Living God, help me to understand the love of God in Christ Jesus.
