People often make the comment that the Adversary is trying to defeat God, to become God, but it seems to me it knows it has already lost that battle. It knows full well what Jesus accomplished and that it, the adversarial spirit, will have no part in the Kingdom to come, it's reign and it's world and those loyal to it, already come to an end.
What the adversary will still do however, is SIMPLY turn as many people as possible away from the new Kingdom of which it has no part and try to keep them immersed in the traditional ways of it's world (this world). That has always been the role of the Tempter. It failed with Jesus but won with the gentile religion that turned itself allied to the State. Where does that leave us?
It is a very simple task to keep those born of the world and trained by the world, to see God through worldly eyes, which of course keeps them away from God. It is these who will fight madly to defend various Christian faiths made in the world's image rather than of God's. The world cannot teach what it does not represent, belong to, or understand. Seek ye first the Kingdom, but you will never find it through the world's eyes.
This is the Adversary's world and it only wants to keep us worldly for otherwise it has no hold over us. It's the old story of if I can't have it (the Kingdom), no one gets it.
It is the adversary and it's followers, whether they knowingly or by deception (as is so often the case) try and discredit the Kingdom and keep those who seek God from seeing the true Kingdom. Sadly, it is these who will say Lord, Lord but not enter the Kingdom for they defend the wrong world.
Matthew 13:19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
Matthew 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Matthew 24: 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
