Confession, according to 1st John forgives sin and cleanses us of unrighteousness. This is important when you discern the bands of iniquity zeroing in on your location. Discern the sin that they are magnetized to and confess it to God and be set free.
The next degree in magnitude is in 2nd Corinthians where Paul spoke of boasting of his weaknesses .. Paul said I will boast of my weaknesses so Christ's power will rest on me. If confessing your sins doesn't seem powerful enough to release the spiritual oppression that is magnetizing itself to your sin .. start being really vulnerable and intimate .. people might lash out at you .. but it totally sets off a blast of light in the spirit world.
