Thew My Smartphone Away

Texting-and-Walking.jpg

Last night I had a dream that I was receiving viruses from my smartphone [the kind of virus a computer has] into my body and I woke up not sure what this meant. After pondering, I realized the ''virus'' was a symbol of demons. I think God was telling me the devil is getting to me through my smartphone. Just like sooooo many people in this society, I walk around all day playing with my smartphone. It's worse than a cigarette, alcohol, or even cocaine addiction. I am constantly checking my facebook, email, and CF accounts. After thinking about it for a while I realized my phone addiction was idolatry and I started to become very convicted of it and I threw my smartphone in a bowl of water [to destroy it] and then threw it in the garbage and got out my old flip-phone.

I really think smartphones are straight from the devil and do more damage to society than they do good. We don't HAVE to have 24/7 access to the internet, video games, and apps. Adam and eve did just fine without a smartphone, so can we. I am going to use ONLY my laptop for internet for now on and a simple flip phone with voice and text only on it.

I was talking with a sister in Christ about this and I even convinced her to throw her smart phone away, she said she has the same issues. I was telling her how one time on the subway, as we were pulling into the subway station, I looked out the window as we passed hundreds of people waiting for the subway... and I noticed that almost half of them were standing there like zombies playing with their smartphone. 10 years ago it would not of been like that. People need to converse with eachother and look at REAL life, not spend the whole day goofing around on a phone. It's ridiculious. I'm not saying EVERY person that has a smartphone is using it for evil but in general, i'm no longer a fan.

I think I made the right decision.
