The Power of Words and the Accountability of Our Heart

In the beginning, God created the world with His word – and it was done. (Genesis)

The same is when we are born. We learn words to be able to communicate, and to go along with them as we grow. Etiquette. Somewhere along growing and maturing, I think using words have become a careless thing and often without given a second thought. There in lies our own condemnation, depending on context and if there is ill-will seeded in the heart.

I can’t help but notice, and it’s not just me as a Moderator but other members as well, that CF has become an arena – a battle ground. Brothers and sisters in Christ slinging foul things at one another with a poison in their hearts that are brought out laced with their words….

How does one see the corruption in the world for what it is and ignore it to go about one’s day? Why is it that we don’t fight against that principality instead of each other? Have we truly forgotten that our enemy is not each other, but rather the unseen predator? Take care that it is not you he devours… 1 Peter 5:7-9

What does Jesus say about the words we choose to speak and what lies in our heart?

Matthew 12:33-37: “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart. A good man produces good things from his storeroom of good, and an evil man produces evil things from his storeroom of evil. I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to account for every careless word they speak. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

We have the ability to choose what words we speak and have (whether we like it or not) accountability. Have you noticed as you read through the Old Testament to the New Testament that God takes care of His words as well? There is not one thing He does not mean to say or does not have purpose. He’s not just our Father in Heaven but also our Teacher, Mentor, Counsellor and Judge! How can I not love such a being as He Who created us!

How is it that we have forgotten Who God is and what He does for us? He is Love, Mercy, and so much more! God’s Mercy Towards Israel: Hosea 11:9-11 We ought to have the same mercy with others as He does with us.

Have you ever looked into the mirror and see your own reflection? That is how it is with me and His Word – the Bible. It’s like I’m looking into a mirror of how He desires us and how we ought to be not only with each other, but as a whole – the Bride of Christ!

I have given this very great thought for a few weeks now, and I have tried to write this before, but was unable to. Something was halting me or perhaps the Holy Spirit saying not now. It’s amazing what He can do in us if we just listen!

I am no speaker; I will come out with that with whole-hearted honesty. This has been on my heart for quite some time… I feel like I’ve been shared a glimpse of what Jesus felt in the Garden of Olives. Jesus Prays in Gethsemane: Matthew 26:37-38

Like I said, only a small glimpse and not unto death, but rather just very sorrowful from what I have been witnessing here in CF.

*******

I only ask for prayers for the hearts of many, may they be saved or unsaved. Let His light shine through us together, as bright as His Bride shall one day be.
