Questions: What is the most important day of the week when it comes to serving the kingdom of heaven?
Answer: Today! Yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not a given; therefore, today is the only sure day we have to allow the Father to do His will in our lives as we serve His kingdom.
Be careful not to place one day over another while serving the kingdom. Matthew 12:1-12 illustrates a good example of this. One time on the Sabbath while walking through the grainfields Jesus’ disciples were hungry and began picking the heads of grain to eat. The religious minded people of that day confronted Jesus because His disciples were unlawfully doing this act on the Sabbath. Jesus wasted no time in correcting those seeking to judge Him as to the way we should live as followers of Christ. Again, Jesus healed a man on the Sabbath causing the religious people of that day to confront Him again asking, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?” Jesus replied, “If one of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
For the true Christian, not the weekly churchgoer who remains conformed to this world, every day is an equal blessing and opportunity to serve the kingdom. It is ridiculous to believe Jesus would have placed a greater importance on one day above another for His Church. Manmade traditional religious practices would choose to differ, and not unlike the religious minded people who confronted Jesus would quickly judge the true Christian who places an equal value on each day. Therefore, if we wish to be like Christ we should serve the kingdom as He taught us to, daily!
