The Love Of God

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?" (Romans 8:35 NKJV)

The list of situations that may want to separate us from God's love consists of inanimate phenomena. I had expected the verse to begin with the word "what" rather than "who". It meant then that the beginning of the verse is referring to a personality. There is someone who is always infuriated when he sees God shower is love on mankind; that is the devil. The devil was very angry with the love of God towards the first couple. Therefore he did everything to separate them from their maker by introducing sin. In Job's case, he discovered that the tool of sin will not work, he brought affliction upon him.
All the tools listed in this verse are weapons in the devil's hands against Christians. He utilises them to make us query God's love for us and thereby be separated from it. We must be resolved in our hearts, like apostle Paul of old, that nothing shall be able to separate us from God's love. God loves us unconditionally. He is thinking about us all the time (Jeremiah 29:11). He delights in our success.
Let therefore completely abandon ourselves to His care.

ACTION PLAN: Are you a Christian? God loves you, He has a glorious plan for you. Trust Him with all your heart.

PRAYER: Father, I am sorry for allowing the devil to make me doubt your love for me. Reveal your depth of love to me.
