The Lord Is My Shepherd

Categories:
  1. Psalms 23 (KJV)

¹ The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
² He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
    ³ He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
⁴ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
⁵ Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
⁶ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

    SING PRAISES TO GOD
The LORD the Shepherd of His People

This psalm applies directly to my life the past three years. Thankyou Lord Jesus, my shepherd. You led me through my wilderness and on to safety. You dealt with my enemies and they have not been able to hurt me, they are now forced to stand in the distance and watch me prosper. My cup overflows. I love you my Saviour, my Lord, my friend.

One of the greatest passages in Scripture. There is a story that at a public event a notable actor got up in the little town square's stage and recited this passage to receive great applause. Someone then asked the local minister to read the passage. He did, and the people all bowed in worship at the conclusion. A little boy asked "What made the difference?" The response came "The actor knew the passage." The minister knows the Shepherd!

Truth: When sleep escapes you, don’t count sheep, but talk to the Shepherd.

A wonderful Psalm that has given strength to so many people. It ties in with John 10 and 'The Good Shepherd'.

    Thank you @paul becke

I've heard the song several times before and still had to do some research to learn more about it. It is a beautiful heart-felt rendition.

"Panis Angelicus" is from the hymn Sacris solemniis written by Saint Thomas Aquinas. "Panis Angelicus" is often treated as a separate hymn and set to music, just as Cesar Franck did. This particular composition is one of Franck's most famous works. (thoughtco.com)

Panis Angelicus Lyrics and Text Translation
Composed by Cesar Franck in 1872

    Latin Text

    Panis Angelicus fit panis hominum
    Dat panis coelicus figuris terminum
    O res mirabilis! Manducat Dominum
    Pauper, pauper, servus et humilis
    Pauper, pauper, servus et humilis

    English Translation

The angel's bread becomes the bread of men
The heavenly bread ends all symbols
Oh, miraculous thing! The body of the Lord will nourish
The poor, poor, and humble servant
The poor, poor, and humble servant

Cesar Franck must have been some composer if that was only one of his most famous compositions, Mr O.

The poetic equivalent of Panis Angelicus as sung by Andrea Bocelli :

How they both speak to the heart.
