The Lord Is My Shepherd; I Shall Not Want (psalm 23:1)

"And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen." Philippians 4:19-20 Many have read these words, and even more have heard this message, but do we really understand the depth of what this means. Almost daily I am blessed by witnessing how God is always working to provide both my needs and the needs of my Brothers and Sisters in Christ who are seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness. Miraculous is the only way I can explain it. Moreover, Gods greatness goes far beyond this, as He also provides for the needs of many who have not gained citizenship in the kingdom of God, including those who plainly reject Him. Our Father never ceases to show love and compassion to mankind whom He created. Therefore, for those of us who have been chosen from among the called, we have nothing to worry about concerning our needs here in this world. I could spend a lifetime sharing with you the many examples I have witnessed to date, but instead I will illustrate why we should discard all worry about where our needs will come from here in this world if we choose to serve the kingdom of heaven.

"For the pagans (unsaved) strive after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:32-34 The key here is that these things will be added to those who are truly seeking to be a righteous servant of His kingdom. Many make this claim, but don't they realize that God sees what is in their hearts? Far too many live compromised lives disregarding what it means to truly follow Jesus. "Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you to repentance?" Romans 2:4 We must repent from a self-driven life in this world to live as humble servants of the kingdom of heaven, and we need to do this daily and not just when it is convenient. God has promised to provide everything (what we need, what to say, how we should live, etc.) if we turn our hearts toward heaven. "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:8

Furthermore, we must honor God first and in doing so He will give us the knowledge and strength to serve Him daily. "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7 Thus, in spite of the many struggles we face in this world, He is in control of the lives of all those who are truly following Him. "For our light and momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal glory that is far beyond comparison." 2 Corinthians 4:17 However, for those who claim to be in Christ with their lips, but there hearts are hardened with a desire to live a selfish life in this world, they should not expect to receive anything from God. These are those people who remain lost in their sin and will in the end go where there will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth. Nevertheless, for those who have surrendered all in this world to follow Jesus and serve His kingdom, there will be an eternal life in heaven as their reward. "Truly I tell you," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God will fail to receive many times more in this age—and in the age to come, eternal life." Luke 18:29-30
