The righteousness that is ascribed to us after accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour is not of work. Therefore what gives us right standing before God is not our good works. Do not allow the devil to deceive you into relying on your good works. The good works are beneficial and necessary for us as Christians, but we must never be misled to think that they qualifies us to stand before God.
How can one be a partaker of the God-given righteousness? It is by faith! You need to believe in the finished work of Christ on the Cross and personalise it. He died for you and redeemed you from the devil, the world system, self and sin. You are free and declared righteous before God. When you exercise such faith, it will lead you to more faith in other promises of God.
The business of salvation is transacted through faith. When you believe, you are translated from eternal death to eternal life. You now live forever, death lost its meaning to you.
How can you maintain gains of the Cross? By faith again, you keep on believing and day-by-day more grace is being released into your life.
ACTION PLAN: Quit approaching God and godliness with your works, begin to rely on the finished work on the Cross.
PRAYER: Father, grant me faith to keep trusting in the finished work of Christ on the Cross.
