God's Priestly Class
It was spring 2014, and one day I woke up feeling like a 30 year old Levite. Not that I was from the Tribe of Levi, but that I felt tied to God's rules for his priestly class. As a single man, one of the things that struck me most that day was that I could only marry a virgin. (Leviticus 21:14) Do you know how hard it is for a 30 year old single veteran to find a virgin? Feeling tied to God's rules for his priestly class lead me to do a lot of pondering on God's Law, and changed how I saw many things. God is reason, and there is reason for God's Priestly class only being able to marry a virgin. Some of the following may be hard for some to read and deal with. The Truth hurts. Knowledge brings sorrow. Ignorance is bliss?
Firstly, does Leviticus 21:14 really apply to Christians and how much of Old Testament Law actually applies? The Torah is important in learning God's character. Christians may not be tied to all the laws, but they are important in working to understand who God is, and his definitions of Holy and cleanliness. The more someone grows in Faith and comes closer to God, they more he may feel a pull, or feel these laws. Someone should love Jesus first. Love God, and work to grow in Faith. He may discover God's Law as he goes and grows in Faith and experiences cause and effect with the Spiritual.
Heart and Soul
I would preface this with "Heart and Soul" Huey Lewis and The News.
What does Heart and Soul mean? Many people may have different definitions. Through studying your Bible and knowledge of some history and philosophy, you may learn The Character of God. What is God's definition of Heart and Soul?
Heart - God is love. (1 John 4:8) God's love is sacrificial. (John 15:13) Love is a two way street. Jesus bore his cross. Did you bear your cross and follow him? Heart could be taken to mean fighting for God. Someone with a lot of Heart could be said to not quit or give up. Heart could be tied to a man's "Fightiness." God's goal is The Kingdom of God. Have you been working to build the Kingdom of God? Do your plans and God's plans for you line up?
What is in a person's heart? Love of God or something else? God tests your heart.
Soul - Soul is intrinsic. Who are you, and what is your character? How do you identify yourself? Do you identify yourself as a child of God? Do you work to build God's Kingdom? Do you work to get to know God, and grow in Faith, and accept his Spirit, and build Godly Character in you? Your choices show your character.
Spirit - Spirits effect motivation. How are you motivated and toward what ends? The Bible tells you to test The Spirits. What Spirit is someone of?
A musical artist somewhere sold their soul. They signed a contract with a record company, and that company owns them. They do not get to make their own decisions. They are a slave. They sing the songs the record company wants them to sing. They go to the events the record company wants them to go to. There may be some sort of Secret Society in the background of this and rituals. Someone who sold their soul may have a particular character, and be of particular spirits. The fruit he produces may show which spirit he is of.
A new Christian goes to Church. He is baptized, and does what his pastor requires of him. He drops down his walls and allows in God’s Spirit. God has a plan. God’s plan is The Kingdom of God. God has plans for every individual on Earth. People choose God. As our new Christian grows in Faith, he associates himself and his identity more and more with God and building God’s Kingdom. God has a will. Man has a will. A man lets go of his ego and his wants and works to align himself with God’s will. The Holy Ghost is like a train at a constant rate of motion. Someone works to align themselves or board the train. Spirits effect motivation. The more someone is of The Spirit of God he tends to think about God and God related things, and is prone to God centric activities. God is central in his life.
Christ is to Man as Man is to Woman. (1 Corinthians 11:3)
As someone grows in Faith with God, God’s Spirit get woven into someone’s soul or identity, and/or The Spirit of God is wrapped around their soul. A Saint would be someone who is “One With God?” Someone who grew in Faith past a particular point where his soul and the Spirit of God are tied? I put that in terms of a question to make this non-denominational, and give people something to think about. This would appear to be, based on my experience and study, how it works. A Bond Servant of Christ would be someone who: A) Talks to God. B)Lined his will up with God’s will and plan for him. C) The Spirit of God is wrapped around his soul. He is experiencing cause and effect with the Spiritual.
Faith is like a marriage, and Christ is to man as man is to woman. When a man is married to a woman, they become one flesh. There are soul ties. They mold together or should mold together. They are one unit. There are spiritual things tied to the act of sex, and how it works. At one point in Christian History, a marriage was consent plus consummation. A man and a woman consented to marriage, then they consummated it, and it was done. Jesus Christ is a Priest. He sees everything.
Men and women who got into sexual immorality may have a variety of soul ties. Many people have been willing to accept a variety of lies about marriage and dating. For example, many females today have believed that being a “relationship girl” is ok and acceptable. It is ok to put out or that living in a trial marriage as long as there is some sort of commitment. A relationship girl is Tyrion Lannister’s Prostitute from Game of Thrones. She is not Sansa. She is not Margery. She is Shae. She has come into a temporary arrangement with a man where she receives something for sex. Maybe it is attention, popularity, security, money and a place to stay, or a variety of other things. They may be living like they are married, and Jesus may consider them married. When they break up, there is a hole in their soul or hole in their heart? They had someone in a relationship where they molded together and were one unit, and then they tore it apart?
A woman who falls into sin is often made a liar. She lies to protect her reputation. She lies to protect her desirability. I have a song for this: “I Think You Know What I Mean” - Gov't Mule.
Lies create false perceptions or realities. A man meeting a beautiful girl may want to believe that she is a virgin or only slightly dated? He may create a false image or portrait of her in his head. She has done some negative things, and he has created this porcelain image or lie about her in his head. He doesn't love her so much as the thought of who he would like her to be. Her heart may be with another? Lies and false perceptions create blindness.
Why is a man pursuing a girl? What is the goal? Is he lustful or needy? A slave to depression or his ego? He needs to be with a girl to feel good about himself? Does a man pursue a girl for the right reasons and for love and a life long commitment in marriage, or for something else? Men who have been in sexual immorality, and who have rejected God may have “Hearts of Stone.”
In the media, a man with a Heart of Stone would be like “Heart of Stone” The Rolling Stones song? He “loves’em and leaves’em” and doesn’t care about their feelings? He is lustful and doesn’t care about love, nor possibly want to love?
God’s love is fatherly. God would like Good things for people. We are to love our brothers and sisters in Christ. Someone who is full of lust would be blind and deaf like “Blurred Lines” Robin Thicke? He doesn't know love. He looks upon women with lust and would like them wickedly. He doesn't care about their feelings, or their dad’s, brothers, husbands, and so on. Someone in lust may be blind, and does not know The Love of the Father.
A Levite Should Only Marry a Virgin
In the Post Modern World, honor is not something that is taught in many schools. It is a value that many Secular Humanist see as something of the past and good riddance. Honor is tied to sexual morality, and family, and dads. Daddies girl is the apple of his eye, and dad and the family and the family name have honor. Given someone uses his little girl out of wedlock that brings shame? The Bible is full of genealogies. Honor and family honor are important to understanding God and the Bible. A Judge is Your Honor or The Honorable. Honor is central to Justice. A Judge who is not honorable would be a liar, coward, corrupt, arbitrary, and a variety of other negative things. Men in dishonorable and shameful pursuits, in sexual immorality, do not care about honor? They are lustful and of the flesh.
Angel Bodies and Dealing with Soul Ties
It is said that Christ has an Angel Body and we are to be like the Angels in heaven. Given marriage, and soul ties, what does that look like? Someone in sexual immorality with many soul ties may end up in hell in a blob or a “sea of the dead.” I would point out Ezekiel 1 and the Angels with many faces. Summer 2014, I was working for God, and a Bridegroom looking for a Bride. God shepherded me into working to marry, one at a time, women from my past. I would put all my heart and soul and hope and future into each one. I would find they were playing games with me, or God would show me something horrible about their past. I would work to kick them out of my heart. I would watch “I Don’t Care.” I would not care if they lived or died, and I would not care if they were happy or sad, or safe or in trouble. They were not my business. They would fall out of my heart. I found my heart had been wrapped around some past loves regardless of if I was with them or not. I would watch “I Don’t Care” and they would fall out of my heart. I would have a heart that felt like Sandpaper or a Desert. I would walk around downtown Durham similar to Ezekiel after God took his wife. I would go through my phone and find someone new. I went through this process till there was no one left on my phone.
